Loved Vanquish back in the day, there were a bunch of great mid tier games on PS3 that I really liked. Vanquish, Shadow of the Damned, Lolipop Chainsaw, Binary Domain and the like were really enjoyable to me.
I should think so, they were extremely overpriced to begin with in my opinion.
Can you explain what a skew is please?
@Thundercat
That's a good shout, but I think its damn close for me personally. Either way, it is still mightily impressive what Sony has delivered this generation.
Happy gaming duder.
I tend to alternate between a longer game and a shorter title, I especially like to mix in a retro game to keep things fresh. I am 50 hours into Death Stranding and think I'll switch to Celeste or maybe a Megaman X game next.
Glad it has turned out well for fans of the series. The originals never really clicked with me personally so I am not looking to pick this up, probably for the best given my ridiculous backlog.
Happy gaming to all the Shenmue fans, your long wait has been worth it.
Love to see how varied other people's choices would be, there are some absolute corkers in these comments.
I do struggle to limit myself but I reckon my choices would be along the lines of:
The Last of Us
Bloodborne
Bioshock
Commandos: behind enemy lines
Battlefield 1942
Great taste in games dude, Planescape Torment is amazing!
Halo games were decent enough but this whole narrative that it defined the FPS genre to gamers is hyperbole. I had been playing games like Goldeneye well before Halo and had played countless shooters on PC before Halo came along.
I thought they were really good but, personally, quite overrated.
Ha, that sounds familiar, I obsessed with getting a 5 star connection rating with each NPC before I wanted to move on to the next area. It's funny though, even though it would have made sense to come back to this area when I had better equipment to get all the stars I wanted, I don't regret it at all as I had such a good time.
Now I am stacked with new toys and vehicles I feel so powered up and the gameplay loop well and truly has its hooks in me.
I have to say, I am utterly hooked on Death Stranding and am loving every minute of the 40 hours spent on ot so far, but I can see why it's not for everyone.
I think Sekiro may pip it to the post as my personal fave of 2019 though. And I'd have to guess Resi Evil 2 will be a strong contender this year too.
Glad to see some love for Cutter, I'd love to have seen him make an appearance in the fourth game.
@Rainslacker
Couldn't have said it any better squire.
It sounds like I liked the rebooted Tomb Raider trilogy more than most, I really enjoyed those games, but they were still some way behind the Uncharted series in my opinion. Uncharted games are easily amongst the best games I have played in respect of characters and story, there are very few games that had me hanging on every plot twist and cut scene.
GiantBomb rarely issue reviews, they are more of a personality driven site making content around video games. Anyone who thinks they care about clicks clearly don't know the history behind how the site was created nor the history of the staff that are there.
If they were just another blogger site, would every industry personality you care to name turn up to their E3 live streams every year? There is a reason the likes of Phil Spencer turn up to GiantBomb every E3 whil...
Hey Fragnum, a pleasure to converse with a fellow Giantbomb fan. I know what you mean about respectful comments on N4G, it's a shame things always degenerate into an argument when there could be some really constructive and enjoyable conversations, especially about Death Stranding.
Again, nice speaking to you and I hope Death Stranding clicks for you and matches your hopes as a Kojima fan. I will find out as soon as the game installs, I have just returned from work to...
While Alex didn't like the game at all, the GiantBomb preview video ended with Brad concluding that he wasn't sure if he liked the game or not, but knows that he couldn't stop playing it. Ultimately, there is enough footage doing the rounds for people to make their own minds up at this stage, for my part, I have a copy sat on my shelf waiting for me to get in from work.
I agree with you 100 percent with regard to their integrity - I have been a payed up member of GiantBomb since the beginning. There can be no question that their opinions are 100 honest, as a fan who consumes their content almost every day I know the crew intimately after all these years and I know that they couldn't care less about Metacritic or industry favour etc.
What I would say, is that it is often the case that my taste in games is wildly different to theirs, so...
Don't get me wrong Lighter, I still think Fallout 3 and 4 are fantastic games, and I can totally appreciate people preferring Fallout over Outer Worlds. It's also inevitable that Outer World will be more popular currently, being a new game along with the fact that Bethesda are extremely unpopular at the moment.
I love the 50s aesthetic of Fallout, but other than that, TOW beats Fallout pretty handily.
I'd love a Modnation remake, they could balance the insane difficulty level then...... Seriously, that game gets super tough later on.
