Wow. Obvious that someone didn't read the article.
The difference is that Microsoft doesn't have anything coming out this year that they didn't show in their E3 conference, while Sony does. It's just a different strategy. Microsoft is concentrating on immediate gains.
It definitely looks smoother, but I'm hoping that the final version has better textures. Maybe they cut back on the file size for the beta to reduce download time like they did with the Titanfall beta.
Funny, it's also out on PS4, PS3 and PC. What a coincidence.
Why is "business" in "quotations"? Not a big fan of this site or its brand of "journalism".
No, if it had unveiled on Sony's stage, there would still be some people there to call it shady. Some people can't see past their own bias to appreciate the amazing fortune of having a sequel made at all.
After the success of the Shenmue 3 Kickstarter, maybe Sega will take the opportunity to do so! :)
Sony is in a position where they can concentrate on the future of their platform, where Microsoft concentrated on showing off the immediate gains.
As I said above, Sony still has titles releasing throughout 2015 that weren't part of their presentation, but were available for demo in the booth. They could have showed off things like Until Dawn, God of War III Remastered, Hellblade, the Uncharted Collection, any one of a list of games still due this year, but instead chose...
Sony has a ton of games still coming out in 2015 that weren't even part of their show, but they were present in the booth at E3. They wisely chose to devote their time to new games on the horizon rather than showing off the same thing year after year.
Aside from Uncharted, but that was just awesome.
Shady? BS. You didn't see Koji Igarashi get this kind of scrutiny about Bloodstained. Polygon even labeled it as "business as usual"

Is it suddenly "shady" for Shenmue to make use of Kickstarter because it isn't coming to Xbox One?
@WonderboyIII: Why not ask for all games to be free while we're at it? Not every game can appear on all systems, due to cost, time and interest.
Games development costs money, so developers have to prioritize certain things above others based on their sales projections. In this case Sony is investing in the project to ensure that it comes to the PS4 as well as the PC, but if they hadn't you can bet that the title would have been PC only.
Press X to pay your respects to the story.
Bear in mind that Microsoft showed games in May of 2013 during the Xbox One reveal that are still not due to be released until next year. The difference is that Sony still has lots of games due out this year that they didn't even show during this show, and Microsoft showed everything they have left. Both companies have games coming out this year, but what does Microsoft have for the future aside from the games that we already know about? I want Crackdown 3 and Gears same as the next guy,...
I don't know about that. Regardless of what was shown, you know that it will sell well for the platform. Gears is a bankable franchise, and will shift a lot of systems on release.
@Kribwalker: You know what? There's games that Microsoft announced in May of 2013 that aren't due out until next year. Sony still has a bunch of games due out this year that weren't in E3 at all. Why show the same game year after year?
Seriously, did that just happen? Did I die, and hallucinate that while being revived, or did that actually just happen.
If it was a dream, I'm just going towards the light and being done with it.
I'd like to know what percentage of Microsoft's E3 *2013* lineup has yet to be released.
What's the opposite of insider trading?
I don't think that's the case.
Or you could just try it for free first. Why is that a problem?
