If you expect them to be free, don't expect them. Three years of Xbox One and Playstation 4 software will not be patched with the very odd exception and a handful of first party games. What you're talking about represents a significant number of man hours to create, and there'd be no reason for a third party developer to commit resources to an effort with no revenue attached for it in support of a game that's already on the used market.
Edit: To increase res...
Story has become more prevalent in modern games perhaps, but that doesn't mean that it was absent in older games. Phantasy Star (1987), Alone in the Dark (1993), Gabriel Knight (1993), Chrono Trigger (1995), Fallout (1997), Metal Gear Solid (1998), Half Life (1998), System Shock 2 (1999), Planescape Torment (1999), Deus Ex (2000), Half Life 2 (2004). I mean, this is just off the top of my head. With a little research, I'm sure I could turn up a couple dozen more titles that had a bett...
Some of them. Overall however, this is a pretty shallow list from only the very recent past (with the obvious exception of OoT, but since it keeps getting re-released, I'd say it still counts as recent).
God damn would I give an ungodly amount of money to see a remade Wing Commander with modern graphics, as long as they don't try to redesign all the ships (like that terrible movie did). Particularly if they did it in VR. Just seeing the Claw hanging there in space outside the canopy of my Rapier... I miss that game.
Man, they better not screw up Metroid again. There hasn't been a solid Metroid game since the Prime trilogy.
Unless you count Axiom Verge, I guess. ;)
I think you may have replied to the wrong person.
I'm holding out for the Metal Gear Racing game, that will bring the story to a whole new level for fans. Play true Metal Gear style racing, just like you know and love. Be the big boss of the race battlefield!
Dramatically undersells Bioshock 2. If anything, its a more enjoyable game than Infinite, but all three games are excellent in their own right.
@BentheTurtle: Plus, if you only played it previously on 360, you get the previously PS3 exclusive challenge rooms. All three games, with improved graphics and framerate, plus DLC for $60? This is a no-brainer.
@Trekster_Gamer: Hell yes I blame the consumer. Obviously not everyone buys DLC or pays for microtransactions, but enough do to make the practice profitable. If everyone stopped buying into them and/or buying games that featured them, how long do you think it would be before publishers stopped using them to get our business back?
That's why I think it should be clearly labeled on the box. Make it transparent before you buy so that you know what it is that you're get...
...now let's watch them do something even more stupid.
Haven't seen the same bugs on PS4, but the graphics are much better than they were 10 years ago on console.
@Forum Pirate: I did just speak for myself, and I've never even been to Scythia.
I was never a fan of Wonder Boy until he went to Monster World. I'm more excited for the remake of The Dragon's Trap so I can relive my Sega Master System days.
The problem is, that it isn't Square Enix's fault, it's the customer's. If people didn't buy into microtransactions or paid content, they'd stop doing it. If we stopped buying games that had them entirely, that would send a message.
Frankly, I think that "Microtransactions" should be listed on the back of the box right next to "Online Connection Required", and part of the ESRB rating system. Make it transparent before you buy wha...
It looks pretty damn slick.
One small trick to make N4G users click through to your site.
Guess what. If people didn't want them, they wouldn't make them.
You know why they keep releasing remasters? Because they sell.
Who?
@Shiken: Not sure who you're talking to, or who you think is bitching, I don't expect developers to work for free, but I also think the concept of the PS4 Pro and Scorpio is flawed. Early adopters are getting screwed, and the new iterations of the consoles are going to be dragging around the boat anchor of the day one consoles, so they can only push the hardware so far. Developers have to put in extra work on both consoles, go through a second certification cycle, with no additional r...
