Gee whiz, author. Did you happen to check to see that Titanfall was released on March 11th (a Tuesday), and Titanfall 2 was released on Oct 28th (a Friday), and think that maybe they might have sold less in a "week" as a result? The game's been out for FOUR days. Give it a rest.
Playing this on a console is a bad idea. Flying Tiger messed up the port terribly, and have only just started to address the data corruption issues that can whack your whole career. Take my advice and stick to PC.
Hey man, don't be hating on Monkey Island. And Far Cry Blood Dragon is pretty awesome too.
@Doctor_MG: My original argument was that Quantum Break sold poorly, and your accusation about "falsified statistics" is not correct, and not appreciated. So let's instead use *your* statistic, so that you can't fling accusations instead of dealing with facts. You say that in June Quantum Break had sold 180k. Do you feel that 180k sales in the first two months of a high profile AAA game's launch is a lot?
Yes, Ryse sold 1.3 million. What about it? The ...
Wow, it's almost as though it had another 7 years to sell after release, plus being released on three times as many platforms. Are you saying that sales at any time have gotten back up to the levels they were in the first two months? Because if not, I'm not sure what point you're trying to make. Street Fighter IV still sold more in the first two months than in the month that followed.
@Mixdup: Games that sell bad in the the first two months usually do so because the game is bad. Dropping the price might stem the tide, but sales don't go up as a result. You want to come down off your inexplicable high horse and show me some data to the contrary, go ahead.
EDIT: @Mixdup below: Apparently not.
@Doctor_MG: On Quantum Break, in fact I do think that sales did "stop", or dry up to the point of statistical insignificance.
"highest sales figures in the first week for any new IP they've launched this generation" - Let's unpack that statement. You realize that excludes almost every other game Microsoft Studios has published this generation? That means that QB outsold Ori and the Blind Forest, Kalimba!, ReCore, Ryse, Project Spark and State of...
Okay so four consoles instead of six, and the Xbox 360 / PS3 had more than twice the install base of PS4. Still not seeing your point.
@TheUndertaker85: It wasn't. It was available on PC as well.
@darthv72: Well if you're willing to look beyond "an apple is different than an orange", why not just go completely ridiculous and say that apples and pontiacs are both three dimensional arrangements of molecules so they're extremely similar too. If you're going to look beyond the obvious, accepted, and actual meaning of the phrase in the name of pointless pedantry, then by all means go ...
@Doctor_MG: Admonishing me for making up figures while simultaneously using VGChartz "estimates" is a logical gaffe of Trumpian proportions.
Quantum Break's 250k sales across all platforms would say otherwise.
News Flash 4: Street Fighter IV also released on six platforms instead of two, most recently in May of last year.
Apples and oranges.
News flash: Games sell most of their numbers in the first two months after release.
Exactly. This was a stupid question for them to ask.
@Utalkin2me: Now THAT would be anti-consumer, if media sites all refused to review the game in a sulk and let the customer find out on their own how good/bad a game was.
@bruce755: You call it anti-consumer, but its not like they won't have reviews after release. They're not "Tricking" you into buying their game. All you have to do is have patience and wait if you're concerned that the game isn't quality. If people pre-book and give up their money sight unseen, that's no one's fault but their own.
Heck, wait a few months and you'll see the price drop by a third, so you'll save money AND have review...
Yep. Nothing that says you have to buy a game on release day anyhow, or even pre-book. People can wait for reviews if they're concerned about the game's quality, or wait a couple months for prices to drop. No one's twisting the customer's arm to buy it day one.
...Or you could wait a month and get it for $20 off when the price drops. Nothing that says you HAVE to buy it immediately. Ultimately its still up to the customer to decide. Sure Bethesda wants you to buy it early, and will incentivize that. That doesn't mean you have to.
@bruce755: They're not obligated to send out advance copies, and don't need the help of the media to build up hype for their games. Doom was just as awesome despite not having advance reviews. Don't prebook and wait for reviews, its up to the consumer to exercise their choice.
5.5 out of 10? Bullshit. The game had some issues sure, but they were minor issues.
5.5 puts Mafia III down there with Haze, Crimson Dragon, Bullet Witch, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Mighty No. 9, Lost: Via Domus, and Homefront Revolution. Broken, borderline unplayable games.
I would have given more examples but when games are this bad literally no one would have ever heard of them.
