You did play Snake Eater, right? Because Peace Walker continues that story, and now Ground Zeroes follows right behind it. PW is canon, and the HD remake is available as a separate download for PS3/360, so you should get it.

That doesn't make any sense. Software like that would drive sales of the system, not the opposite. If Nintendo had that bullet in their gun, ready to go, they'd have pulled the trigger already.
Absolutely, it really shines when you have a full team. Solo it's pretty pointless, but with a competent crew you can have a ton of fun. So many approaches to each job that it keeps it fresh, plus there's always subtle differences to map layouts and AI paths which keeps you on your toes and simulates those situations when sometimes things go sideways on a job.

Stock has everything to do with it. Gamestop isn't going to sit on PS4s while people put down money $5 at a time and can cancel whenever they want, meanwhile they're sold out everywhere and people are crowding prebook lists. Hell they won't hold your prebooked system for longer than 24 hours, why would they hold a PS4 that you haven't even finished paying for?

Hey, I'm right there with you. I couldn't even tell you what the plot of Cross was, but I can recall the entire plot of Chrono Trigger beat by beat. It was a much better game. The sequel was disappointing.
Far from the truth? Why is it difficult to believe that another multiplatform game is having the same issue that the majority of multiplatform games are having?
