Having spent a considerable amount of time playing LR its far from a failure, flawed yes, failure not in my opinion. The battle system is the real problem for me and the fact that SE couldn't optimize the Unreal engine properly. Otherwise in my opinion it is as good as any of the JRPG's out there.
Hopefully the battles will not be automatic like Last Remnants as these ruin an otherwise decent JRPG in my opinion. Otherwise this is looking good one of the titles I have my eye on for 2009(fingers crossed we get it this year).
Not just N4G sorry to say.
Both consoles had excellent exclusives with some good original titles coming through LBP in particular (although not a game I would buy).
As for exclusives I want to play on those lists, the 360 wins on that score but thats my choice and not say anything bad about the PS3's lineup (I am more looking forward to the PS3's 2009 lineup than this years releases).
And this 10 year plan is?
Edit: run out of bubbles, answer to below post. Can you honestly say that you will be happy playing on a PS3 in 8 years time when the other companies would of already released (a hopefully) superior system about 4 years before?
Also that is a 10 year life cycle not a plan. Blu-Ray has already been superceded as a storage format.
@Omega4
As an owner of a PS3 since the summer of 2007, the only thing Sony have to 'fix' is the price. Everything else is just fine, PS2 BC would be great.
This is what annoys me about these FUD articles, there is actually NOTHING technological WRONG with the PS3, nor the library, or the quality of video and audio playback, or the free services Sony give to give us once another feature enabled on our PS3s.
Heres a satified customer, with his 360...
Where are you getting your figures from on how much MSoft and Sony make per console sold?
"After SONY got sued they fixed the PS2 problem, did M$ fixes the RROD problem? and warranty is not a fix is just a patch up."
You are right its a workaround not a fix. Alas as you say though it had to take Sony being sued before they acted on their problem. No console manufacturer is exempt from making mistakes, even the Wii had its fair share of issues the most notable one for me being the graphics chip/motherboard problem with the graphics creating black artifacts ...
The 360 had 2 years + of "bashing" about RROD, poor sales in Japan etc so far the PS3 has had 1 because it is not selling . Now people are crying about it lol, the media is just saying what everyone knows the PS3 is slowing right down in sales. I own both and from what I have seen the 360 got more of a "bashing" than the PS3. The current economic climate is not doing the PS3 any favours Sony needs to drop the price to compete, now. I am expecting a price drop announcement...
I'm glad none of the console's have been able to obliterate the other into nothing. It would be a sad day for gamers indeed should we only have Ninty and one other company making consoles. Long live the war and choice for gamers.
@3.1
It has the lowest sales in Japan yes but not worldwide and as already pointed out Lost Planet and Dead Rising are more catered to western gaming. It would be more likely that those titles would be timed 360 exclusives rather than multi plat from the bat.
As for people saying Last Remnant is a rushed half arsed game I disagree, I've had about 30 hours on it now and it is as good as any other JRPG out there. Granted SE have not done a good job with the unreal ...
Yet publisher after publisher admits their making their money off of the PS3 so put that in your pipe and smoke it.
Does that include the 2 PS3 exlusive devs that went bankrupt just before Xmas?
/me passes pipe back.
Everyone going on about extra costs, the £169 360 comes with HDD and a game depending where you shop so no extra cost required (unless you want to online game damn you msoft). This against the Wii which has no hard drive, cost wise is a bargain in my book. Although as has been said before it's all down to the consumer now.
@Rick Astley
So the Exclusive RPG's released on the 360 in Japan didn't shift any extra units then I take it? Lol. I own both machines and Gears is not top of my list (you can shove Halo as well). Fallout 3 is my most wanted game this year. Both machines have some good exclusives on the way, which for me is excellent as I get to play them all if I so wish. Looking forward to Resistance 2 I liked the first a lot. In my opinion none of the machines have mega system selling title...
@Drekken
So the RROD saga is all your fault by providing Msoft with your old PC parts. You ******.
Seriously I own both consoles and they are both great. Japan is not the mecca of gaming it once was, simple as that.
Some actual gameplay shots/footage would be nice. This sounds good though.
In reply to Piratethom and Waltercross only the fanbots would cry about it, personally I think the Halo series sucks (yes I own a 360 as well as a PS3). Exclusives are beginning to mean just that less and less nowadays. Maybe we will have a one console future, although the only good thing to come from that in my mind would be the end of fanbotism.
Sounds like they spent more than they should of or the son did. So they blame it on hackers because they can't pay it back. Msoft said that the account had not been hacked. I don't buy anything from Live personally, isn't there some sort of security password or something in place when you purchase something? If you had to enter a pin or something every time surely that would help.
Are you sure you are old enough to "work" as doing a paper round don't count.
I'm interested in VS, although if it's a brawler and not a full RPG it wont be for me.
