I agree. The PS3 did a lot right. At launch it allowed you to transfer your save games with a dongle, it included a bunch of firsts... Bluetooth standard, Wifi standard, a HDD standard (360 had "Arcade" models etc which lacked this and so developers could not COUNT on the HDD when releasing games), Blu-ray standard, Wireless controllers, rechargable no less, Standard, the very fast and slick XMB interface with DLNA, 3D support, HDMI standard- some dont recall but the 360 had ne...
People forget about the inflated shipped numbers from the RROD and disc scratching issues... but I would guess their numbers are inflated up to 15 million due to replacement units and people out of warranty re-buying the console to keep playing the games. The replacement units are one thing and while one may argue that those who re buy are still doing microsoft a favor.... that doesnt help installed base for game sales and the 360s sales of multi platform titles reflected that very obviously...
If they release a next-gen console, sure.
"Sony flopped the PS3 generation. Xbox 360 dominated last generation."
It launched a year later and outshipped the 360 worldwide every month after release,
at a higher price point. The XBOX360 shipped numbers include replacement units
for all the RROD and Disc scratching and other major defects that plagued the few
years of the 360s lifespan. The PS3 introduced HDMI, Blu-ray, Bluetooth , WIFI and a Standard HDD
which the XBOX ...
"They did not dominate during the PS3 gen. I think they lost the most money if that counts for anything."
They launched a YEAR later at a higher price point, and worldwide outsold 360 every, single, month after release.
This in spite of the high failure rate of XBOX360 inflating their "shipped" rate. If you're talking about VS xbox
it dominated. Your only argument could be the Wii, a console that launched at 1/3 the price marketed ...
Actually I would say NEXT designed it... That thing looks like a taller NEXT station
... DO you know the definition of SLEEK? A BOX is literally the antithesis of SLEEK.

I am not sure about most gamers starting on Nintendo. Many did. You could certainly make that assumption for gamers who are 35-45 years old as the NES was so big... but for many many people in their 30s the Genesis or Playstation was their first console depending on how far into their 30s youre talking. My very first console was a Master system but I had already started gaming on my friends 2600, 5200 and NES. Not long after I had my SMS I got an NES and ...
Im that generation. But I was also a PC gamer. We were aware of 3d graphics long long before they hit
the home console. The playstation made it mainstream but the arcades did it first and everyone who was seriously aware of gaming knew about virtua fighter.
I will say also that this is going to sound weird but we had seen plenty of 3d graphics elsewhere, in cutscenes, movies, effects that mimick 3d like isometric graphics, or games like Ballz, Mode 7 effects an...
More potential performance but a whole new generation of bad ports and with the popularity of PC gaming you're much better off making it easy for games to be brought to your system.
That being said the first party titles of course they would be spectacular .... but you'd end up with issues like xbox360 where some games run better even though it's weaker on paper ... and that's factoring in that they both used a PPC architecture
The fact that IBM continues to use it in high end enterprise solutions should tell you something. It's not a cpu meant for one thing . The ps3 is held back by limited bus IO and it's GPU, as far as gaming goes.
The CELL continued to be used in IBM enterprise level equipment and where the base OS is capable of distributing use of cores across LPARs(logical partitions, like a virtual machine instance that can be IPLd separately as needed) it's quite efficient . It's really a PPC style RISC core ...
Optimization? Unique features? What is wrong with that? Their games often are per release, limited in platform release.
If Grandia hadn't been messed around and mutilated tons lately Id suggest it may be that.
Imagine if it were Panzer Dragoon Saga or Koudelka, or something. I mean..... maybe Im some kind of boomer or something but those are the games I want a lot more than I want Demons Souls. Not that I don't love Demons Souls but as far as Im concerned Demons Souls is on a modern platform and looks decent already...
Closeout prices do this
Service games... So.. you mean SEGA? Thats what Sega STANDS for.
oh MY GOD, I AM SO OLD. HOLY GOD DAMN CRAP. OHHH GOD... OH GOD ITS SINKING IN
"increasingly dire"? More dire than new York being underwater by 2010 as predicted in in the 90s or??
People are asking for remakes of old stuff and half the time the remake is shit or doesn't take advantage of newer hardware why even have it on ps5... most reasonable remakes are just cleaned up and keep original mechanics.
Ok, The switch's capabilities are apart from its portable mode, closer to a PS3 than a PS4 but in a very small form factor. It is not what you would consider a 9th generation console. If you set up a Docked Switch(Doing its best job on graphics and sound) and a PS4 LAUNCH MODEL next to each other, youre going to be disappointed in the switch ... only undocking it will give you the warm fuzzies that explain why you spent 300 bucks on it.
When the actual next gen conso...
