It is, as the New 3DS was really meant as a bit of a refresh and essentially was the same product.... it continued the GOOD sales the 3DS was enjoying, Meanwhile the Xbox One does not have good sales, if the sales continue the way they are after a new console release the xbox division will go software only.
Hey, if it were the same generation and just replacing the hardware, that would have been just as if not a better name for the Xbox One X right? It worked for nintendo because it IS the same product essentially and was replacing the old outright ... They actually did have MAJOR issues with accessories meant to fit one and not the other, memory cards being Micro SD on the New 3DS and other stuff.
When Sony changed this for the VITA It literally cost them their portable games division.
f consumer know the difference between iPhone's, TVs, and cars. Why would they all of a sudden be confused about this. People are just looking for any reason to complain and to go on the assumption that consumers are too stupid and are easily confused to not know the difference is just ridiculous.
Iphones were running chronologically only recently did that change and YET there arent really any Iphones that use the same names, only when they release a budget version and...
Outside of something ridiculous like "Xbox Poop edition" or "GameSlab" or whatever, What would you consider a WORSE or more confusing name they could have picked? It has a VERY, VERY VERY SIMILAR name to the current widely marketed product.
My opinion and IM SERIOUS is that they could have as easily called it "Xbox 2X" and release a budget edition "Xbox2E or Xbox2 D(digital/Diskless whatever you want to call it) Sounds silly but if yo...
"Its moms, dads, granparents, casuals who need the explanation."
So in other words.... CONSUMERS
A friend and I laughed because we are into old computers and IMMEDIATELY both made the same joke "NeXTBox" As it looks like a taller version of the NeXT cube released 30 years ago. Obviously not
PERFECTLY identical but close enough to warrant the comment.
"Xbox Next" being the old code name for .. was it the Xbox One? it would be pretty funny
"Macintoshes ARE personalized computers" They are Personal Computers. Yes. But the reason it wasnt a PC
is that "PC" abbreviation is literally the IBM branding. Calling a Macintosh a PC in that context, is literally just like the aging
parent who refers to all consoles as "nintendos" or "Segas" even when there is no relation.
The issue is if you are not in the gaming ecosystem so to speak, if you arent in the indu...
@Xb1ps4
Its not just about Tiny Tim getting the right box under the tree, Xb1ps4. Its about consumers
even understanding what the newest product is. "Oh have you seen the new Xbox" "What Xbox" "Xbox Series X" *Not totally in the loop, doesnt know the difference between that and Xbox One X ,. its Xbox X" "Oh, yeah I did see it." And its like literally something that requires clarification. That is what happened to ...
@King_Noctis
Bend made SYPHON FILTER and while Days Gone may not have been "the last of us" if you actually look at the production quality etc, the complaints with the game werent with the polish or the overall presentation, BEND is capable of developing AAA titles. I am not going to white knight for a frickin corporate game studio... but I am just saying they arent nobodies. meanwhile The Coalition has only worked so far with an existing franchise under the gu...
Youre putting Ninja Theory who have released a few titles which are nearly unknown in the public eye...
comparing it to what.. God of War, Uncharted, The Last of Us, Killzone, Horizon Zero dawn?
Im just saying.... Obsidian and Playgrounds etc arent NOTHING by any means but to try to say they are in the same punching weight class as Sony is a little bit of a stretch. Thats exactly why they have been trying to buy up studios, because they know they're outclassed...
" Dont know how Sony will act to this i think there approach thus far is that you have a launch console and a mid gen pro version."
That literally describes the XBOX approach so far, In fact they're the ones who started the whole idea after being lambasted for a 500 dollar console that was weaker than the PS4. Remember at first Kinect was not optional.
" But i dont think it will be the landslide victory that this gen have been."...
I look at the people downvoting you and I wonder if they're still waiting for "TEH CLOUD!!1!11" Or "MUH SCALEBOUND" or "MUH FABLE" or what? Because Microsoft skated by this generation on literal lies and empty promises, broken promises I'd actually say. Did nearly ANYTHING that the Xbox One was louded for even come to pass? How many of its BIG KILLER EXCLUSIVES were continually pushed back to keep the carrot-on-a-stick for sales just out of reach? How...
Ok, The switch's capabilities are apart from its portable mode, closer to a PS3 than a PS4 but in a very small form factor. It is not what you would consider a 9th generation console. If you set up a Docked Switch(Doing its best job on graphics and sound) and a PS4 LAUNCH MODEL next to each other, youre going to be disappointed in the switch ... only undocking it will give you the warm fuzzies that explain why you spent 300 bucks on it.
When the actual next gen conso...
I agree. The PS3 did a lot right. At launch it allowed you to transfer your save games with a dongle, it included a bunch of firsts... Bluetooth standard, Wifi standard, a HDD standard (360 had "Arcade" models etc which lacked this and so developers could not COUNT on the HDD when releasing games), Blu-ray standard, Wireless controllers, rechargable no less, Standard, the very fast and slick XMB interface with DLNA, 3D support, HDMI standard- some dont recall but the 360 had ne...
People forget about the inflated shipped numbers from the RROD and disc scratching issues... but I would guess their numbers are inflated up to 15 million due to replacement units and people out of warranty re-buying the console to keep playing the games. The replacement units are one thing and while one may argue that those who re buy are still doing microsoft a favor.... that doesnt help installed base for game sales and the 360s sales of multi platform titles reflected that very obviously...
If they release a next-gen console, sure.
"Sony flopped the PS3 generation. Xbox 360 dominated last generation."
It launched a year later and outshipped the 360 worldwide every month after release,
at a higher price point. The XBOX360 shipped numbers include replacement units
for all the RROD and Disc scratching and other major defects that plagued the few
years of the 360s lifespan. The PS3 introduced HDMI, Blu-ray, Bluetooth , WIFI and a Standard HDD
which the XBOX ...
"They did not dominate during the PS3 gen. I think they lost the most money if that counts for anything."
They launched a YEAR later at a higher price point, and worldwide outsold 360 every, single, month after release.
This in spite of the high failure rate of XBOX360 inflating their "shipped" rate. If you're talking about VS xbox
it dominated. Your only argument could be the Wii, a console that launched at 1/3 the price marketed ...
Probably XBOX SX Which sounds terrible coming from a retro PC perspective as an SX is the shitty line up of CPUs without a math co processor , literally the precursor to the celeron.
