They needed to include the "retro" music from the old games because the new soundtrack is crap.

I see weird hate on FF8. It was not disliked at the time and it its flaws werent worried about by the majority of players at the time... FF7 just cast a long shadow as it was the first of that sort of big spectacle RPG and 8 was not a sequel which for fans new to the series confused them. Kind of how when Square made The Spirits Within, I saw that in the theater and like half of the people literally were asking WHERES CLOUD and shit. As if there hadnt been multiple final fantasies release...

This is the same thing that Microsoft runs into with the XBox. About 40 out of 1000 Original XBOX games are backward compatible, and about 75% of the Xbox 360 library is also not backward compatible, mostly for the same reason especially in the case of a lot of the bigger titles we would WANT to see but just arent B/C.
Sony ran into this with the PS1 classics... But this does NOT apply to disk based Backward compatibility.

On one hand ... nice . On the other it shows how they shoveled an unfinished game out the door and the issue with gaming over the long term today . Imagine buying a physical copy and in 15 years the updates are not downloadable and the game is a crippled husk compared to what it was just a month or two after release when they actually finish adding features and optimising it.
You can find videos that'll show all the ways GTA4 is superior to GTA5. AI, interactions, some animations etc. Thats just for a start.
And yes, Even RPGs and stuff have in my opinion gone down hill in the ART STYLE.

Just want to say.. crysis ran perfectly fine on pcs that were new at the time of it's release . I had like an 8800gt when it came out and no it wasn't maxed but at that time nobody was aiming for 60fps on recent releases so it was more in the 30fps range and that was fine . Game rocks. It's so much more polished than when I was playing the Japanese version years and years ago. Yeah visually dated but plays super smooth due to that .
Adjusting the resolution IS the sort of optimization you can do on a game like this where the engine is already designed for these systems. The bottleneck is probably elsewhere causing this .
On PC this game does NOT hold 60FPS at max settings and good anti aliasing on many systems. The console versions optimize, use some tricks and purpose built shading and anti aliasing tricks and otherwise dial down the detail to hit a playable frame rate... not run max... They already...
Depends on what the frame rate is. If youre talking about a locked 60FPS vs a locked 70fps on a variable refresh display- or even 55 vs 60 on a variable refresh display, and you can move up into native 4k, then its actually worth it. If youre talking about Vsync to a non variable display and you cant hold it and its all over the place causing this kind of issue in a twitch action game- Yeah duh keep it stable. The game would be perfectly playable at 50FPS if it never moved, but its not...
Well the difference is a ton of people were saying it was unoptimized as in it should be able to hold 4k resolution etc because of the GPU difference... And actually the resolution was dropped as a compromise, not really "optimized" per say but yes, optimized in the regard that they found the "Sweet spot" that gave them the performance of the pro with a similar but on examination even superior image quality.
Yes, this is a Win overall. They pushed for the full 4k resolution initially and by dropping the resolution still end up with a slightly better image than the pro, but without the performance compromise. Not bad if you consider how cheap the X is right now. Thats what the 45 percent difference in GPU performance gets you, a bit more wiggle room but not exactly endless headroom to turn up the resolution.
Digital Foundry? Of course they wouldnt, it would seem like an attack at this point. They'll mention it but... next gen will be nothing but instances of the PS5 loading faster. I want everyone to just keep this in mind.... And remember this about third party games going into next gen. The difference between these two machines isnt "2 TF" its 45% increase from PS4 pro to Xbox one X. the increase from PS5 to Xbox series X is about 15 percent. As in one third the difference.

If they come out swinging this gen with gamepass and look- they've got platinum games and others releasing games, I know it wont dethrone Nintendo or even Sony, but it wont hurt them outside the energy expended-
and its not like they will succeed without trying.
Almost none of this, I mean a little, was actually "I am moving the character" gameplay.
Most of it was actually just replay/photo mode/ ideal scene type of stuff with some exception.
And unfortunately - as USUAL from them, you can see an immediate downgrade even on this
in-engine AC Valhalla gameplay over the cinematic trailer... .and thats STILL expected gameplay.
