They are worried about the PS5. they need SOMETHING to carry on about. A PS5 in raw Terraflops, not counting any BENEFIT in fill-rate because of the higher GPU clock, is capable of about 85% of what the Xbox series X is . What does 15% more look like? Well, Would you notice 15 percent more on-screen items? Would you notice 15 percent higher frame rate? I guess you could. All desktop CPU and GPU throttle up and down as needed or warranted by other factors. A desktop pc still throttles it's cpu and in an APU where both are on the same chip, you understand why you may throttle cpu down as it isn't needed in order to for instance keep the system quieter? Guarantee you the Xbox would throttle if it got hot enough , that's simply how modern processors work.
You can ignore everything else and the clocks and just look at raw numbe...
Ok.... Xbox came out in 2001 and Microsoft replaced it in 2005. It had a 4 year life span. Then in spite of coming out a year earlier at hundreds less the 360 was chased down and overtaken by the ps3 even though the 360s shipped numbers were boosted heavily by replacement red ring of death consoles... Then Microsoft after having one of the most infamously faulty machines of all time comes out of the gate with some of the most hated policies , 100 dollars more with bundled Kinect in 2013.....
My god nobody cares that it is actually amazing that games servers were still up half way into 2020 given that the vita is like a holiday 2011 release and it sold badly because of the crappy name among other things. Can you name a system that sold 10-15 mil units and was produced for seven years with official game servers still being up for years?

A patch to actually utilize pro and ps5 would be enough for me though the game is not broken... 60fps would feel nice but there is nothing wrong with it given it's nature. It runs stable which is all I care about in that case . The 60fps obsession is good for pushing gsme designers to write efficient code but it often is overblown
Well, you know studios can be committed to bringing a game to a system 6 months away and even show footage based on predicted specs without a dev kit.
That said I'm sure there are dev kits , it's possible they had shortages because of the high specs and needing to manufacture the parts at the mercy of the yields .
Almost none of this, I mean a little, was actually "I am moving the character" gameplay.
Most of it was actually just replay/photo mode/ ideal scene type of stuff with some exception.
And unfortunately - as USUAL from them, you can see an immediate downgrade even on this
in-engine AC Valhalla gameplay over the cinematic trailer... .and thats STILL expected gameplay.

They needed to include the "retro" music from the old games because the new soundtrack is crap.

I see weird hate on FF8. It was not disliked at the time and it its flaws werent worried about by the majority of players at the time... FF7 just cast a long shadow as it was the first of that sort of big spectacle RPG and 8 was not a sequel which for fans new to the series confused them. Kind of how when Square made The Spirits Within, I saw that in the theater and like half of the people literally were asking WHERES CLOUD and shit. As if there hadnt been multiple final fantasies release...

This is the same thing that Microsoft runs into with the XBox. About 40 out of 1000 Original XBOX games are backward compatible, and about 75% of the Xbox 360 library is also not backward compatible, mostly for the same reason especially in the case of a lot of the bigger titles we would WANT to see but just arent B/C.
Sony ran into this with the PS1 classics... But this does NOT apply to disk based Backward compatibility.

On one hand ... nice . On the other it shows how they shoveled an unfinished game out the door and the issue with gaming over the long term today . Imagine buying a physical copy and in 15 years the updates are not downloadable and the game is a crippled husk compared to what it was just a month or two after release when they actually finish adding features and optimising it.
You can find videos that'll show all the ways GTA4 is superior to GTA5. AI, interactions, some animations etc. Thats just for a start.
And yes, Even RPGs and stuff have in my opinion gone down hill in the ART STYLE.
Suddenly we can push a ton of geometry and they just let that carry them instead of making something COOL looking. They think they dont need to try as hard.
