This list fails by the fact Mario is not number 1 and Battlefield????? over Resident Evil, Street Fighter, Metroid, Halo, Call of Duty?
Since when has Battlefield had any game be as important, better selling or critically acclaimed than the best of these franchises?
PS ... I don't even like Halo but Battlefield over Halo is beyond dumb.

I don't think Wii games lacked replay value ... Brawl, Mario Kart, Tatsunoku vs Capcom ... then their single player games were MASSIVE like Zelda TP, Mario Galaxy 1,2, Metroid Prime ...
The real problem was that the Wii didn't have the quantity of games that the PS3 or 360 has due to lack of third party support.
A GOD ... I mean Superman game is possible. Just need someone creative enough to pull it off.

Marvel comics clearly have had better game than DC comics has had overall. But this list kinda fails in that it missed the single BEST comic book video game of all time ... Batman Arkham Asylum.

Got to agree with you ... if we are thinking 90s ... they only HUGE fighting game series were Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter ... both of them are covered. Tekken, Soul Calibur, Virtua Fighter came later on and haven't stopped making game so it can't be those making a "comeback".
SNK has amazing fighting game series but they never EVERY took off in America so it can't be them.
So thinking hype wise ... it has to be Killer Instinct. It...
The gameplay is fantastic ... we already know that part. We just need it to have a good netcode and this is an instant buy for me and hopefully other fighting game fans willing to try a non Capcom fighter.

Problem is most of Japan's and America's top players agree that the "rebalancing" has made AE worst unless you like playing as Yun who is crazy overpowered and the weakening of most of the good characters in Super SF4.
Mario is the greatest franchise of all time whether you are a fan of the game or not.
The series is old as hell, pulls in MORE than Halo sales consistently (have no idea why they make such a big deal about Halo's sales) and critical acclaim for the series is pretty much only challenged by Zelda overall with various games in the series being called the best game of all time ... all the time.

Sony's 1st party titles DO sell ... the problem is people are expect 10 million for everything these days.
You cannot expect every great game to sell 10 million. No Final Fantasy or Zelda or Metal Gear Solid game has done that either and those are three of the greatest franchises of all time.
To sell 10 or more you must have casual appeal to go along with critical acclaim like Mario, Call of Duty, Pokemon and GTA have gotten.

Not "many" games actually ... CoD games are the most played FPS games for a good reason. They are fast paced, addicting and fun.
Very few games this gen can offer the amount of content a single CoD game has with it's single player, zombie mode and multiplayer modes.

It's not usually internal leaks but rather a Gamestop or Best Buy employee taking an early copy and leaking it.
I think it really depends. I mean you are talking about CoD which sells better than 99.9% of all games NOT made by Nintendo.
CoD has casual appeal. It is bought by hardcore, core and casual gamers. A game like Ninja Gaiden for example will never sell anywhere near CoD does no matter how great it's reviews are because it's difficulty makes it a hardcore only game that casuals or normal core players stay away from. They might be gamers but you know what I mean.
