Simple ... we have had many sequels to say Mario, Call of Duty, Assassin's Creed over the last few years. Where is the Metroid sequel? What about Viewtiful Joe? Or Shenmue 3? ... oh yea ... those franchises didn't sell as well as those other franchises mentioned earlier, that's why.
Sales matter buddy ... whether you like it or not ... companies make their decisions on which franchises to support and how much support based on sales.
Sales matters...
Depends what you like ...
Gear of the year from a story/emotionally impacting standpoint? ... Last of Us
Game of the year from a technically impressive standpoint? ... Grand Theft Auto V
Game of the Year from a pure gameplay and fun standpoint? ... Super Mario 3D World
Basically it comes down to what you value most.
It looks pretty cool ... will wait to see more gameplay in action.
The people disagreeing with you are fans of watching "movie" games and not real games.
I think post Christmas will be a real test not just to XB1 but to PS4 as well. Wii U sold over 3 million in 2012 holiday season ... it's in January where sales completely died.
We will see how BOTH XB1 and PS4 handle January.
110k for Wii U ... 150k for 3DS according to VGchartz.
I think that is very disappointing ... people were really excited for this Sonic game then those really bad review scores came in and crushed the game. Heard there was an update that improved or fixed some of the issues reviews had with the game though so maybe its better now.
E3 most likely ... Retro Studios has a big team now ... no way all they been working on the last three years is a DKCR sequel. I am sure it will be an amazing platformer but that type of game doesn't require a huge team which Retro does have. They are working on something else. Even Miyamoto stated earlier this year that Retro can work on more than one project at a time now.
Yes ... most games said SPRING 2014.
I think people overrate the value of a new IP.
What about an existing franchise that actually brings something new like Mario Galaxy. What if instead of Mario Galaxy ... Nintendo called it Luma Galaxy instead ... same gameplay as Mario Galaxy but no Mario theme/characters ... could have been a new franchise if they wanted to. Or how about Kid Ikaris 3DS ... plays nothing like the original ... also could have been a new franchise. How about if Luigi's Mansion was actual...
Why did Wii U increase so much?
5 and 7 million for the new consoles???? hold on a sec ... buawhahahahahahhahahahahahhaha hah
Another difference is that Smash Bros actually is a great game. Playstation All Stars is not.
Considering the lack of third party games ... Nintendo themselves needs to release more games in a more timely fashion.
Inspired? ... more like cheap knock off.
Sigh ... guess Project M will have to do.
Peach ... easy mode ...
So thats why last year's Super Mario 3D Land "only" sold 9 million units so far right? Right?
The reason World hasnt sold as well is just because its on the Wii U. The Mario franchise is carrying the Wii U alone so far in terms of big name games. Mario can only do so much. The price is still seen as too expensive for most people.
Wonderful 101 and Killer is Dead!
Unfortunately this same writer said that Nintendo should abandon the Wii U and create a new Next Gen Console already.
Yea ... that sure worked out great for Sega ... oh wait it didnt.
Best thing Nintendo can do is support the Wii U to the best it can. Start working on fixing all the little things that prevent third parties from making games on their system and why the Nintendo fanbase doesn't support third party games. Then when the next cycle comes, co...
Looks fantastic as expected. This will be like Super Mario 3D World ... game gets absolutely zero hype months prior to release but as we get closer and closer ... people will see we have another AAA title on our hands.
