If ONE system had exclusive content ... then you would be correct. That is the tactic used to have a fanbase of a game choose that one system.
But in this case BOTH Sony and Microsoft are getting exclusive content thus forcing a diehard MGS fan to have to buy two systems and two copies of the game if they want to have all the content available for MGSV.
This screws the fans of the game.
Agree ... this serves absolutely no purpose other than to screw your own fanbase.
Unless you have both consoles and buy two copies of the game ... you cannot have all the content creatwd for the game.

You are correct but unfortunately people see a different name "LAST of US" and assume its fresh and original when really it isn't. Not saying Last of Us is a bad game Sony fanboys but it technically isn't anything new, that's all.

The gamepad is nice. I would be watching a movie on Netflix or Hulu, then I hear my washer is done, I take the pad with me to the laundry room and just continue watching the movie with no breaks as I fold clothes. Problem is that for the actual games ... there is no real MUST HAVE gamepad game. All the biggest titles, Pikmin 3, Mario 3D World, NEW Mario Bros, New Luigi, Wonderful 101 ... they all either barely use the pad or it works just fine without the pad. Nintendo would have been be...
I was expecting Sony to start out far stronger than XB1. Got outsold by the Wii U. Great for Nintendo, bad for Sony.
When Titan Fall releases ... depending if the 360 fanbase wants to move up to next gen ... I can see Titan Fall moving a ton of XB1s early next year and give it an early lead over PS4 in the states.

@-foxtrot problem is the internet doesnt represent the paying consumers. No Metroid will ever come close to outselling a main Donkey Kong platformer. It's sad but Metroid just doesn't sell that well.

@ Fanboyssuck27 ... what is the article's point? Critical acclaim or sales? I loved the gamecube myself ... but it wasn't "SUCCESSFUL".

How well did the Gamecube sell? Not well at all. It's more than just making a powerful console ... Nintendo has to fix it's third party relationships some way. Just making a more powerful console guarantees them absolutely nothing.
Mario 3D Works without the Gamepad for 98% of the stages
Pikmin 3 works BETTER with the Wiimote Plus than the Gamepad
Wonderful 101's summoning weapons works BETTER on with the thumb stick than it does on the gamepad screen
Windwaker HD ... well the game worked just fine on Gamecube with no Gamepad.
Give EXAMPLES ... explain in DETAIL why the system doesn't work without the Gamepad.

@ AWBrawler ... the Wii Mote was intergral to a NEW experience that was truly fresh and it had games like Wii Sports that truly showed off why. The Gamepad doesn't have that Wii Sports game and the gamepad doesn't do anything too special. Miiverse is cool and Miiverse isn't worth 100 dollars and it can still work as a basic message boards without the pad. That controller is the biggest downfall of the Wii U.
Rebrand the system and call it Wii HD.
Get rid of the gamepad as pack in.
Cut the price to $199
The gamepad ... Nintendo has FAILED to show why it's important. Most of their main games play just fine without it (some like Pikmin play BETTER without it ... wiimote+nuncuk is better) and don't really use it in any innovative way. It is what makes the system so expensive and it is what casuals believe IS the Wii U. A controller ... not a system.
