The online component of every game is not rated by the ESRB, but if it was, all onine games would be rated 'M' for mature, becasue of the unpredictability of the gaming community. You never know for sure who you're playing, or what they're going to do.
Anyone could have worked that out, especially the mother. Therfore, a fair portion of the blame goes to her.

@ ravneguard:

That is a great idea. In fact, depending on the severity of the reported offence, there should be a little gift in it for you, like some Microsoft points, or something. People would deliberately go out to look for offenders to report in the hope of getting a reward, and the Live community would become very vigilant. Probably.

You get a bubble :)

I see I used my last bubble. Never done that beefore. Oh well, goodbye!!

I'm sorry, but what makes me daft? Just about every other 3D avatar-based online world isn't heavily moderated.

I think Home is far too important for Sony to risk screwing up.

However, i'll make it clear that everything I said was siply specualtion, and based on things I've heard on the internet and from people in the home beta, before you decide to call me 'daft' again.

Of course, how could I ever expect someone like you to be in favour of Home?

Well, you should know about that, considering your username...

Nah, I'm just kidding.

As long as the content isn't suggestive towards any sort of illegal sexual act, then it can't really do any damge to the kid's mind, regardless of what the mother might think.

People are to quick to let the law do the parenting for them.

I think a virtual room makes it fairly more complicated, and tehrefore actually serves the adverse for a paedophile.

Also, Live relies on people reporting violations, while Home relies on reports and heavy moderating (apparently).

But, neither of us know anyhting for sure (I'm assuming you weren't in on the Home beta either) so we'll just have to wait and see how it turns out.
Still, raising concern is only going to push sony to make Home safer for kids, and th...

The 'N-bomb' is the worst.

Everyone's big and clever when they're behind the safety of their Gamertag, but I'd liked to see how far a guy gets when he says it to a black guy's face.

It's a shame that the system put in place to prevent that sort of thing happening also prevents justice being dealt out to those who get away with it.

Snoop, if that's targeted at home, all I can say to you is that Home will be heavily moderated, and i'm pretty sure that sort of thing won't happen.

Also, the demographic Sony aimed the PS3 is a wee bit different from those using Live, if you get what I mean.

There was an article a while back on N4G regarding the lenghts Sony are going to in order to make sure Home becomes nothing like that.

Apparently, anyone who is proven to have done something wrong will have their PSN account cancelled, and their IP invalidated (or something like that) meaning the only way they'd be able to get online again would be to move house.

I'm sure Home will be fine, although I'm glad people are raising concern about it, spurring Sony to make ...

Hey, come on. It could have happened anywhere.

Although I must admit, there's something about Live that does seem to bring out the worst in gamers. Maybe it's the age demographic that Live is aimed at, I don't know.

Still, it's not Live's fault this happened, it's up to the individuals that commited the crime.

Hey, don't worry about it. If it's a joke, you should take it as such.

I don't know, Jason. When we look at the games, the PS3 seems to actually be showing it's worth. Uncharted already started to widen the gap between the 360 and PS3, and I'm sure things can only get better. For both conosles.

Yeah, it's a great time to be a gamer, regardless of what console you happen to own.

Well, so far Sonic's only worked in 3D on the Dreamcast, but I hear there's a new Sonic RPG for DS coming soon. I'll definitely be looking that one up, as I'm really getting anxious for a half-decent Sonic game to be released.

No, you missed the point. It's satire, not meant to be serious.

In other words, it's a joke.

That had me going for a second. I was thinking "well, that's the Japanese for ya..." Lol.

Yeah, but I'm not being stereotypical or anything, I was just saying that I've noticed that.

Maybe us British guys are just too polite...

That was a joke. Of course we're not :P

I'm sorry, but I don't think this game is worth half the hype it's recieveng, let alone the inevitable hideous overrating it's bound to recieve at launch.

I played Smash Bros. on the N64 and Gamecube and those were pretty fun, especially on multiplayer. With that said, this is no doubt going to be more of the same.

I think Nintendo need to bring something new to the table. They haven't thought of an original concept or character in about ten years. Countless Mario se...

Exactly. We play games, not consoles. A lot of poeple seem to be forgetting that.

Jason Henry, you hit the nail right on the head, my friend. We don't know anyhitng compared to the engineers who actually made the damn thing, and the fact that they aren't on N4G arguing with the fanboys who seem to think they know better, just goes to show how little it actually means to argue about it.

I know that neither Sony or Microsoft would stand up for any of us in a fight, so why should we waste our time defending them?

I don't think HarryEtTubman actually takes himself, or the console war, seriously. Or at least it doesn't seem like he does. I think he's just in it for a laugh, which is still annoying, but at least it's better than the guys who actually think they're intellegent and genuinely take offence at anything opposed to their console of choice, and feel complelled to write essays in reply to comments, which despite how long they are, can easily be rounded up into "PS3 has no 'AAA' games" o...

Bill's only joking, by the way. See him on the forums, and he's a cool guy. He just posts comments like that on the main site becasue the people on the N4G forums are laughing at the poor, sad fanboys that infest the main site, while intellegent discussion takes place in the forums.

Zhuk is exactly the same, he's not being serious, he's just takin the p1ss out of the people who genuinely take offence at his comments. Good on him, too.
