You'll find that people often believe what they want to believe, such is the nature of fanboyism in the current generation of consoles.
To be honest, most people aren't really arguing about this for a good reason, it's just that they'll feel better about themselves if the console they chose to exclusively support ends up with the 'better' version of a game.
In reality, this whole thing matters very little.
I don't get where the "full experience" thing comes from... from what I've heard, the 360 will be getting something extra, not something taht was missing in the first place.
Therefore, seeing as GTA is a complete game on it's own, "full experience" isn't a very accurate term to use. "Better experience" would be a better term to promote the game.
Also, it sounds like you're pushing PR for Microsoft when you say something like "the FU...
You're right, that the reasons you just mentioned are what most people will be looking for in GTA.
However, I wouldn't downplay the DLC too much yet, just like I wouldn't get my hopes up about it too much. We just don't know as of yet.
It's more likely to be a new storyline than anything else, though. Especially when we consider the viability of a huge download, when the majority of the 360's userbase will have fairly limited storage space.
I'll give you...
I don't think it can be anything that big, especially since a large portion of 360 owners only have a 20gb HDD, or none at all.
It may be lengthy, like a new storyline or characters, but I wouldn't get my hopes up.
We may be pleasantly suprised, though. Let's see.
I'm curious as to how big this downloadable content really is. I would assume it's just going to be a few missions or 'chapters', becuase if it's anything bigger, then everyone with the 20gb HDD (not to mention the system only leaves you about 13gb to use) will be more or less screwed for it.
I'm in the same boat as you. PC gaming isn't worth the cost for me. Some gamers swear by it, though, so I won't badmouth it or I'll get eaten :(
He didn't say Japan was a superior country, he said that they make better quality consumer products. That is actually a true statement, their products are generally far more reliable, and cheaper for them to produce.
This shows in anything from cars to televisions to games consoles. You may not like Japanese products for whatever reason, but you cannot argue against the fact that most Japanese consumer products are far more reliable than the typical American product.
I don't even know why people think that DDL and Blu-Ray will even be competing; it's obvious that, if DDL does manage to find it's place in the mainstream market, it'll be co-existing with Blu-Ray.
Back on topic, yeah, I give it a few years too.
Wow, decap, you've been bringing us a lot of news lately :)
Anyway, just like any new format, Blu-Ray needs a little time to settle. Eventually, it'll be the standard disc format, but not for a few years, at least.
You're absolutely right, Meus.
To be honest, I think fanboyism is a truly pointless pursuit. As long as you're happy with what you play, and what you play on, you win. I find it suprising that so many gamers still seem to have not realised that.
Maybe defending a corporation that doesn't give two craps about you makes you feel bigger, or more proud, I don't know.
I also think that fanboyism has a lot to do with the demographic at which a console is targe...
Come on, be nice. It's possible for people to have differing opinions, and not be an "xbot".
We're all in this together, Harry, because we're gamers :)
Aw, that was a nice thing to say about Meus. I give friendly people bubbles :D
Nice blog. You deserve all the arse-kissing you get, Meus ;)
Seriously, though. It's a good article, although some would argue that you're 'blaming' the 360 for fanboyism (I'm not one of those people, but I can assure you there will be some) but nonetheless, a very good blog indeed.
Halo isn't my cup of tea, but a very well-written and intricate review. Well done.
The only problem I had was that you were ar too generous in the graphics department. I know most of the people who call it "Halo 2.5" are usually jealous or haven't played it, but they really aren't far off. It just isn't impressive at all, below acceptable level for the 360 in it's second year.
The gameplay is rock-solid, but... I feel like I've been playing the same game si...
I think people just use 'In-game XMB' as a generalisation. You know, people often prefer to type in shorthand, so 'In-game massenging, music, friendslist, etc...' is toomuch to type.
I'm sure Sony know what the best thing to do is. I'll be happy either way.
This should be good news, but... I don't know... this sounds a lot like desperation to me. I think MS are just trying to make the most out of what's left, but I gues we'll have to see.
Well, I never did understand where Americans get this British 'bad teeth' thing from...
Still, good game, sir ;)
I think the best way to dominate the US is conquer everyhting around it first. Therefore, I think the PS3 is going to do well everywhere, especially after a price drop and the barrage of games due out later in the year.
Pick up a PS3 if you haven't already, you're missing out. 360's worth looking up too :)
Good point.
As long as it's damn well cheap, I'm sold.
