The animation and driving in GTA IV were fantastic.
As far as varying gameplay...not so much, compared to older GTA titles.
Now all we need to complete this experience is a few nay-sayers claiming that those graphics can't be done on the PS3 and that that looks like garbage compared to Gears 2.

I don't trust Microsoft, but I do enjoy the games. I just can't stand the hardware, the issues, and how they've chosen to deal with them.
Oh, and I'm not a fanboy. I use a Microsoft operating system (on a custom-built PC and with linux dual-booted along side it, of course), I did have an Xbox 360 (well, 4 of them).
