I have been a console gamer since I was about 5, now 23 and Im building a gaming PC for the first time. The console life cycle is helping PC gaming, but I don't mind, 4 systems instead of 3 is all good with me, I just wont buy into next gen so early since it cost me so much last time (In replacements)
To each their own but I actually agree with you on a different level, I want to see them cheaper and with DX11 but no further, I don't see a need for more than that, DX11 has some amazing potential, but no dev of yet can fully utilize it at all.
If we wait for that at a lower price point I don't see an issue at all, And I certainly don't see a need to make devs push for a DX12 in next gen.
Although I understand why you might feel that way, trust me I really do, but this is just typical SE business practice, they tend not to let any games under their franchise that could be compared contend with each other when a release date is closing in. The releasing product pulls all focus right up until release. Expect Vs to start getting lot of info a month or 2 after 13-2

Price tag on a ferrari and a console is a bit of a jump lol. But honestly, unless you know what its like to live there you can't really speak for them.
If you didn't have the money to get the latest game, nor have the means to earn that money, Surely you are going to pirate a few here and there, these sort of people are normally the small majority who pirate regularly, and the Devs don't make a huge deal out of it for a reason

I got a 16gb for about £20 a year ago. That to me is a good price considering the format
Actually the other parts are significantly cheaper, The processor is half the price of the GPU (same high end territory) then half that again for a motherboard on par too. No it isn't cheap, but you are within supercomputer range there with a bit of SLI. I wont try and tell you that you can build a cheap gaming PC that blows away current consoles. to do that costs a lot.
But what I will say, is the PC gamer has a comfort, a $400 setup from a shop won't compete for yea...
I enjoy both, And all systems are great to game on. To me the only time PC has the true advantage is when a games console version cant hold a decent framerate or failed to implement V-sync. Other than that all are equal, I prefer 60 FPS but a locked and stable 30 is fine
I don't know about that, I remember Dice saying before that one of the video's we were shown (possibly the first) was run off a single GTX580.
I'm not saying that isn't high end, a good 580 will cost almost as much as the PS3 at launch. But it isnt Enthusiast territory. And it still means people with 480s and 570Tis will get those settings but might see the occasional drop to 50fps

Ah I see, It really depends how many extra assets of DX11 they decide to use then I guess, The majority would be reserved for ultra though so yeah you actually have a pretty good chance I would imagine. Pretty nice GPU to get in your laptop there by the way. Asus do make good laptops eh? (proud owner too lol)
It's almost unplayable solo, the mobs are designed for co-op. But honestly, I just wish they could find a way to patch in V-sync. The screen tear is really ruining it for me.
I may just be picky but screen tear is one thing I can't stand, it killed Dead Rising 2 for me as well.....Come to think of it could I maybe get open world melee based zombie game with V-sync one day please?
I do know what you mean with Indie, the one that really grabbed me most is amnesia though it is now a very popular choice. They certainly do cater to an area that funded studios don't. You can feel it right down to the very core of game design.

Each to their own, I like Indie games but to me PC is all about the framerate, AA and mouse controls, keyboard I don't really care for as much, I actually dislike the fact there is no slow movement on PC like you can get with a controller, but mouse is an unbeatable control method
