Good post. Sadly, you will more than likely get disagreed and bubbled down into oblivion for it.
With how much hope I see people investing in the fantasy of Nintendo failing, it is going to be hell when the games come out, their sales pick up and they take the Wii U takes the lead. There is going to be complete and utter chaos.
If you were actually a fan of Nitnendo at all, then none of that would have mattered to you because middle-ware game engines never produce the "best" games.
The games that Nintendo fans generally prefer are unique exclusives that are built on the console hardware from the ground up. They prefer things like Xenoblade, House of the Dead Overkill, No More Heroes, Red Steel 2, The Last Story etc...
Not getting UE4, Frobite 3 or any other big western dev...
Nintendo will announce a new console in 5=6 years like they always have.
Whether or not Sony or Microsoft announce one before then is completely irrelevant to Nintendo's business plans and schedules.
So the next Nintendo console will be here in 2017 regardless of anything Sony, Microsoft or anyone else does and Nintendo is not going to stop supporting the Wii U with games until then.
You numbers comaprison are a bit far off.
It should be:
GC 21.74m/GBA 81.51m (official)
Wii 100m/DS 151m = 250m (still selling)
Wii U 3m so far/3DS 30m so far
PS3 74m/PSP (don't know)
PS4 0/Vita 4.5
Xbox1 (don't know)
Xbox 360 75m
Nintendo fans "are" core gamers.
They have higher standard than pretty much anyone I can think of. Go look at the average game that a Nintendo fan owns and you will rarely see one that looks both looks and plays exactly like the other.
They like variety in their gaming and they like high quality.
The technology to make the Wii U didn't exist in 2006.
People have gone down this road many time. The console is being sold at a lost, so what's inside is worth much more than what you "think" it should be worth.
The only people I've ever seen make an issue out of price or storage with the Wii U were Sony fanboys and Nintendo haters who wouldn't buy the system under any circumstance making it a moot point.
Did you even bother to read this article? It was saying the entire point is that a price would make no difference as price is not the issue at all.
This has 0% to with price. The price is fine.
The issue here is game. There are few on the console now. There will be many in the future, however. Sales will increase whether people want them to or not.
there is only 1 reason why sales are low. It has no games. When the games came out last week sells more than double in most places.
A steady stream of "good" retail games are all it needs. Doesn't matter if they are first party, third party of anything else. Nintendo gamers buy Nintendo systems to play "good" games. Its as simple as that.
Almost everyone I know says they are waiting for "XXXXX" game to come out before they ge...
You apparently haven't read the Most Wanted analysis digital foundry or the comments from the Trine 2 dev who specifically said that the PS3/360 couldn't run the version of the game that the Wii U was running without downgrades.
The Wii U is much stronger, its just that most people are "intentionally" basing their its strenght off of bad ports, not the good ports or games that were built from the ground up.
A bad port will run inferior to i...
Considering that most of the news and comments by most is anti-Nintendo, its clear that Iwata stepping down would be a horrible idea for the company and that he is doing a great job. If he was truly responsible for any major problems the no one would be asking for him to step down.
So far, things aren't looking much different from last gen, which Nintendo had the highest sells for both of their hardware and software in. So if everything truly stays the same, then that me...
I've never bought a Nintendo console for game first party game. Always for second and third party. ie, Wonderful 101, Monoliths X, Monster Hunter Tri, ZombiU, Lego City Undercover, Snier Elite Wii U Edition, Bayonetta 2, No More Heroes 3 etc.
If first party games are all you want to play, then that is your business.
I have been saying this for months now. I always thought it was common sense, but I have been getting bashed nonstop for stating it.
Software sales hardware. When I bought the PSX/PS2 I didn't do it because I had something twisted love for Sony. I did it because they had the most games that I wanted.
When I bought the Wii it was because it had the most games that I wanted with the control scheme I found the most fun to play them with. The same will be the...
So far, for 2013 they have announced the Wonderful 101(new Nintendo I.P.), Monolith's X(new Nintendo I.P.), Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem, Rhythm Hunter: Harmo Knight, Wii U Panorama, Kersploosh, Pushmo(sequel to Crashmo), Measure Up.
Last year they had Crashmo, Gunman Clive, Nintendo Land, Fluidity: Spin Cycle, Kid Icarus Uprising etc.
Then there is also Pikmin 3, Pokemon X/Y, Game and Wario, Wii U Party, Pokemon Scramble U, Fire Emblem Awakening and ...
Aside from all of the multiple new I.P. they produce each year that people pretend do not exist.
Nymphia and Splash and Crash are new to me. I wonder what they are about.
Same here. They can definitely step up the lighitng on the Wii U version if ZombiU is anything to go by, but the game looks nice nonetheless.
Miiverse would like to have a word with you.
Its just the UK? The UK is where they were doing worst and what most people were focusing on the hardest when trying to bash Nintendo for the past few months.
Its funny how the importance of something can do a complete 180 when circumstances change.
@Dwightowen, no they buy it for "good games" and fun.
If specs were even "one" of the most important things to Nintendo fans, then they wouldn't game on consoles to begin with.
They bought the Wii U because it offers more than just increased specs. If offers new way to play games on top of being able to do more than last gen console. A simple spec up is not enough for them. They want "true" next gen according to "their s...
