Well, I don't think the ten year proposal is far fetched at all, considering the PS2 has been at it for 7 years already! I'm still playing PS2 games on my PS3 and having a lot of fun. I liked the fact that Jack recognised that the PS2's strongest trait was the games. Lets hope this will transfer to the PS3.
yeah, cutting the price for the Xbox might not be easy this time round. It's been documented that their shareholders were not impressed with their profit margins (or lack of) with the games division.....and this was BEFORE the RROD issue flared up.

Yeah, a LOT of you guys are missing some key points. Take music for example, compressed music will NEVER sound as good as an uncompressed format, though they may come close. If you have the space to have uncompressed data, why on earth would you want to compress it to loose features for the sake of it??? UMD movies are cool, I've got three of them and the quality is outstanding...
However....
They really need to cut the RRP of these things. Thats is what's letting it down. Who the hell is going to buy a UMD at the same price as a DVD when it has less features? To be honest, I think all UMD'S should be about £10, because that,s how much mine cost after it was discounted. I'd buy a lot more if this was the case.

Okay, I need to jump in here. Man, unfortunately you don't know what you are talking about probably because some people above didn't really give good examples. Let me have a try:
Xwing vs Tie Fighter or ANY Star Wars flight shoot em up for that matter. Look at how many they sold. No power-ups to speak of or different weapons, yet sold crazily well and highly regarded.
Ace Combat series: again all you do is shoot and no power-ups.
