Not having Japanese is not going to be the death of any platform/console. That's a reach. I'm sure it may have some but you seem to forget that some of the biggest, most popular games aren't Japanese.
People need to stop saying games are "repetitive." Games are repetitive by nature.
Its still way more common to reach goals like these with MP games than SP. Sure you got your huge SP franchises that do as well but that only happens about 3 or 4 times a gen. MP games don't even have to be established franchises to make this type of money.
Has nothing to do with whether its SP or MP like a lot of you are saying. Money grubbing tactics doesn't make a game bad. It makes the devs greedy. Star Wars Battlefront 2 got flack for that. But the gameplay and graphics are solid. People need to know how to seperate the two. You have SP games that are crap as well. But sites like to push those deep down like they don't exist and focus on bashing MP more.
A game where a woman GOT raped? No problem. Happens in movies and tv shows all the time. But a game solely ABOUT raping women? Stupid. Makes no sense.

It has been shown numerous times that MS doesn't excel with single player games. They should still have some but it shouldn't be priority. They do much better with multiplayer. Just like PS doesn't do well with multiplayer they shouldn't be forced to prioritize it.
