Well the crap tank controls of the first made it difficult but not for the right reason. Fighting bad controls shouldn't be a game mechanic for difficulty, game enemies should.

First person is scariest and even more in VR so...

@poppinslops but he didn't say anything about micro transactions and DLC. With that I agree. The perspective though will make it more scary, maybe that is the problem? It may be too scary? Third person games aren't as scary as things are happening to an on screen character instead of you.

@Taero

Honestly I expected the mannequin thing (ok when I turn around they will have moved, yep), it is getting over used IMO. The did it in Condemned on the 360, then it was done in Bioshock, then in the Thief reboot.

It is still creepy but is getting cliche.

That "sensation" was one of frustration at the clunky tank controls that responded like everyone was drunk.

The fixed camera was needed because the PS1 hardware couldn't render it in real time. They did what they could with limited hardware.

If they did that today the game would bomb, no one but die hard fans living in the distant past would put up with it. I say that and I beat all of the RE games on PS1.

I almost think people bitching about the perspective are doing so because they are chicken. It is less scary to have a pulled back camera view of an on screen character get attacked than it is to have the creature jumping out in front of your face!

I played the demo and it totally creeped me out. I can see it being too much for some, I don't have VR but I think some would shit themselves playing it that way.

I don't know why the perspective is a drawback. It does away with crappy camera clipping problems and a stupid radio controlled guy blocking the screen all of the time. This perspective is more immersive, you aren't controlling an on screen video game character, you ARE the character. Or maybe this makes the game too scary?

I beat all of the RE games on PS1. I am sorry but the gameplay was absolute TRASH! The clunky tank controls were awful. The reason I played them was not because of the controls but despite them. The reason they did it with pre-rendered pictures and fixed camera was due to the PS1 not having the power to do it real time. The games had good mood and feel to them because of the story progression and atmosphere. 7 has more mood and atmosphere than the first ones and it controls well too. T...

And I think there is WAY too much emphasis on 4k resolution. Honestly for the most common viewing distance and TV sizes 4K is not that big a deal. Yes the edges look crisper if you look close enough. To me that extra power would be more noticeable if used at 1080p with better graphics effects (lighting, shadows, draw distance, ambient occlusion, FOV etc), better more consistent frame rate and textures. Those things you can see across the room.

They also act like 99% of ...

Blame Sony for that. They are about 4K this and 4K that when they should be talking about better visuals across the board, 1080p included.

Pro.

Seriously if you are that poor and the extra $100.00 is an issue you probably should just save your money and buy neither.
Otherwise for less than the price of two games you get twice the storage and twice the power. Even on a 1080p TV you get a noticeable upgrade in visuals. Kind of a no-brainer.

Except that online only thing in SP. I don't care if it is photo real, I will pass... Screw Ubi.

I half agree. While I like the perspective as it is way more immersive and scary than the fixed camera and clunky tank controls of the first ones, the invincible hillbillies are a stretch. It is too Alien Isolation-y for me. I wish it was more about zombies like the first.

I think the whole thing in the Baker's house should have just been a segment rather than the focus. That way the object could be to fight to escape then move on. That would have made more sense t...

And by that time the servers will shut down and you will end up with a silver coaster.

Because if you are online they can tempt you with micro transactions and other bullshit to milk more money out of you. If you are offline they can't tempt you with shiny digital trinkets to buy. It is like how retailers do things to get you into the store, then they hope while you are there you buy something.

"What happens in 10+ years time when I feel like playing through the single player portion"

You don't. They keep your money and you lose the game. Basically any always online title is just a long term rental. They should price it accordingly then, but I am sure they will want full price. Sadly too many will go for it and insure this practice continues.

They can eff off.

@Weapon_of_choice

Because HDDs WILL fail and if they pull down the game you lose it. Not only that re-downloading "your" library could take forever. When it is on disc you own it, takes minutes to install. When it is online DRM restricted license to use only, you don't really own it. They can pull it at any time for any reason (and they have and will continue to do it).

Horrid download times and DRM are big deal breakers though.

3467d ago 6 agree2 disagreeView comment

Not everyone has stellar internet connections. For me it would require me to leave on the PS4 for a couple of days just to DL a full game. Then there are data caps. I can install/re-install a game from disc in MINUTES.

Then there is the fact due to DRM you have too many restrictions plus when they pull the game down you can lose access to it.

The only advantage to digital is it allows you to be lazy because getting up to put in a disc is way too much ...
