Ummm, isn't COD3 supposed to come out for ps3 too. Yeah, I'm pretty sure thats what has been said. These are just the Japanese launch games, there are still North American launch and launch window games. And why do you have to make the GOW comparisons. THEY'RE NOT THE SAME GENRE! And 1080p tvs have built in upscaling, they don't need a 360 to do that. The ps3 will also have more games rendered in 1080p than the 360.
Sony is a larger company than MS, so this notion that they can't spend as much as MS is ridiculous. Plus, the higher ups at Sony, past the Playstation division, really want to get bluray adopted as the new format. If that happens any losses on the Playstation end will be made up by bluray sales.

By your logic, faster systems necessarily create better compression, then it would be theoretically possible to have a supercomputer that is so fast that it can take textures that occupy all of one byte and then decompress that and get a full hd texture that looks great in 1080p. That is beyond ridiculous. Compression algorithms can compress images to 85% and still look good, but you can't just infinitely compress them and still expect to have high fidelity textures. This kid in my tenth grade computer science class got in trouble for downloading over 500 screens from the first game and burning them onto a disc. Did anyone here play the first game? Is it a good game or is it just softcore porn? I haven't heard anyone talk about playing it so I'm just curious.
Looks great so far. The original DMC was the reason I went out and got a ps2 when I did instead of waiting to see what gamecube was like. Can't wait till next year to play this one.

Umm, I think all they HYPE, as you call it, comes from Kojima's reputation for great games, and from the Metal Gear series reputation for being great, visually stunning games. The fact that this is the last one is enough to get any fan of the series excited.
I think they must have seen the trailer. The gameplay looks amazing in it. As far as gameplay went the trailer for WKS looked more interesting than the Lost Odyssey trailer.
