MS can't move to Blu-Ray because developers have to develop with the fact not every 360 owner will own a Blu-Ray drive. So, the point is moot. Unless it was a standard device like on the PS3, developers have to support the base system if they want to maximize sales.
Sony should adopt MS's update method by updating when they have something (even if it is 1 or 2 things) instead of on a specific day. This would keep people visiting the Playstation store more often with the potential to buy their products. As it is, I visit it once a week unless I specifically go in to get something. On XBox Live, I check things every few days.
and their bicycles too :)
Growing up in the pre internet age, finding your Daddy's Playboy/Penthouse/Hustler was a reason to jump for joy.
You kids don't know how good ya got it. Why, when I was your age, I would walk 30 miles to school uphill both ways in 15 feet of snow carrying my sister on my back and her 2 friends.
It's interesting to note that right around the release date of MW2, Kotick sold enough stock to further his own personal bank account by more than the entire sum IW is suing for. I guess Bobby doesn't like to share.

Interesting DiamondW. I didn't know it included a geographical element to it. That should help them if they do indeed form a new company. I imagine IW is a tense place to be right about now.
So I take it you've read the 16 page complaint file by West and Zampella listeningpunk? Members of Infinity Ward, not just West and Zampella were going to profit off the 36 mil that was promised the studio heads. West and Zampella are fighting for the income of everyone at the studio. Sure they fired the heads of the studio, but do you really think all the IW employees will stick around to create another game for Activision where again they will not be rewarded? Expect a mass exodus from ...
I wouldn't anticipate Activision losing the rights. They would have locked that up in contracts from the beginning. They will lose IW obviously, but the question is will gamers still line up to buy CoD if IW isn't at the helm? Most likely yes and Activision will go on making money hand over fist on it.
The author just figured out renting is the way to go? I play alot of games and if they suck or are short, back in the mail they go. I don't shed a tear because I didn't pay $60.00 for them. I paid 1 week (or 1 day) of rental and if they are good, 2 or 3 weeks. If the replay value is there, I'll buy it outright at a reduced rate.
If you are out there buying every $60.00 game day one, well you know the saying: "A fool and his money will soon be parted"

Go outside, get some sunshine. The world will still turn if the PS3 is down for a day.
I would venture to guess IW execs wanted to take the Modern Warfare name, break off from Activision and create games separate from CoD (which Activision owns) under a different publisher. They are contractually bound to Activision until October 2010, so any work they did under that contract would have to belong to Activision. I imagine they were trying to get out of that contract, Activision caught wind of this and terminated them. It just happens that Activision owed them a chunk of chang...
I'm sure it will settle out of court. The IW execs will get money (maybe not 36 mil) and Activision will keep the CoD franchise which is worth much more to them then the 36 mil.
I don't know. Didn't Insomniac make their PS3 code available to any PS3 developer, not just Sony 1st and 2nd party?
Yes, that's exactly right. Like any business it all boils down to the almighty dollar (or whatever currency your country uses :) ), but on the same note, publishers know they have to have fresh IP in the stable or they will stagnate. Risk vs. Reward is probably more skewed to Reward these days.
I'll bet it was MS trying to contract IW into the next release of CoD. The problem is IW is under contract until Oct of 2010 with Activision which means MS can't enter into an agreement with IW until that time. They attempted to break early from the Activision agreement so IW won't lose the 7 months it has until October. Activision is suing for breach of contract.
They said it wasn't EA, so if it wasn't MS, who else: Ubisoft, 2K, Eidos? It seems like a MS thing to do.
There could be some maniac in his mother's basement doing all those searches to pump up the numbers.
To say devs that can't achieve that goal are just lazy is a naive assessment. Publishers don't often give a developer time or money to spend polishing a game to that degree. A console exclusive designed by a 1st or 2nd party developer such as Gow III and Uncharted 2 are meant to showcase the console, so you would expect that to be the cream of the crop. A game like Bioshock 2 is multiplatform and on a 2 year development cycle. While it may have a high budget, graphical fidelity is not the...
Yeah, I had to check if the author was male or female after reading that. Came out of left field.
What! Disagree!!! Blasphemy. If you don't agree with my opinion then you MUST be wrong.
:) I've been wrong before. Probably wrong now.
I'm trying to think of a game that I didn't like in which the demo changed my mind for the better. Ratchet and Clank ToD comes to mind. I had no prior experience with it and thought it might be too much of a kiddie game, but the demo was alot of fun, so I bought it.
Sure you are your own best reviewer, but do you really have time to play every single game to make that determination?
Reviews are useful for games you are on the fence about. No matter what reviews say about GoW III, people that liked GoW I and II will play it and claim the reviewers were biased (if scores were low) or spot on (if scores were high). It's those games that are on the periphery where a review is most useful. Batman AA was a game I probably would have missed ha...
