Dragon Age 2 because it doesn't have multiplayer? Um... ok. Neither did Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, Oblivion, Mass Effect 1 or 2 or Dragon Age 1 and those RPG's all sold great.
I have never liked Kotick or much cared for his comments, but this one is entirely the ignorance of the author.
Large companies are ALWAYS looking at things like energy savings. This is nothing new. Take any corporation with lots of locations in large space and what seems like a small energy saving is HUGE and can save millions. Imagine if you have a 40,000 SqFt building and raised the temperature one degree so the AC ran less each day. Now look at that over 40 such build...
I imagine LucasArts was going to continue with the Force Unleashed past #2 and he probably wanted to do some new stuff. The first one sold well and no reason not to expect similar sales with the 2nd, so just like Assassin's Creed and other hits they will keep pumping them out as long as the public buys them.
If I had a company and fans wanted to create a free documentary about it, I would be very weary of what went into that documentary. Did Rare have the right or privilege to preview and request changes to the final piece? What say did Rare have in how the company was portrayed? If they are letting people into the building, it could be misconstrued as endorsed by Rare (or an internal documentary). Rare probably decided to just nix the idea rather then go through all the potential trouble.
I'm just now getting to Infamous. Summer is great catch up time.
Where's Galaga? My favorite game of all time.
I don't think anyone would dispute the fact that every company is out to get your money, that's just capitalism at work, but how you treat your consumers is critical. EA is as money hungry as Activision, yet they aren't telling the world how much they would like to gouge their customers or treating them like an open wallet. The key to Activision's bad image is Kotick. He needs to start some serious PR damage control. You may say why should he. Should a CEO have a negative...
I liked Bioshock 2 better then Bioshock 1. Both good games and really very little separates the gameplay, but being able to wield plasmids and weapons simultaneously was a big boost.
Alan Wake couldn't have done any better then Dead Space did out of the gate and DS, although a critical darling (and a great game to boot) didn't light up the sales board. Same niche appeal, same level of quality, but only half the potential audience DS had.
Pachter thought RDR and Borderlands would flop and AW would be a hit. 0/3 on that trio.
I wouldn't be able to enjoy playing a game with the specter of death hanging over me. I'd go out with a bang(ing) literally :)
I'm tired of these publishers whining about this whole used market. This is capitalism. Get off your a##'s and do something about it instead of crying that Gamestop is robbing them. Gamestop found a very profitable niche. They convince enough people to sell back new games and enough people buy them used that they are rolling in the profits. If that bothers the publishers, then go out and offer your own buy back program, then sell the used games online on your own site. No one el...
I've been married 13 years and over those years, the relationship has evolved as I'm sure it will for many of you younger guys that are in relationships. In the early years after marriage, your wife is wanting to be top priority and to be reminded of that. The article was spot on to this. Gaming just means she isn't top priority to you if you rush off to play every day when you come home from work or during the time you should be together, and you will hear about it. This isn...
Where does the game industry get off telling us used games are akin to piracy? What about used houses? I don't feel obligated to build a new house every time I move to support the construction industry and I don't hear them telling me I'm taking food from their table because I'm buying used. What about used cars, used clothing, used books, used movies, used anything. About the only thing you can't (or shouldn't) buy used is toilet paper.
I'm v...
Server was way too busy. I spent 45 minutes trying to click through and finally got to the credit card part only to find all copies were gone. Sucks! Wish Gamestop could plan better for this sort of thing.
The day my wife demands I sell off my hobby is the day I list her on ebay.
Cool, picked up Mass Effect 2 for $23.72 with free shipping.
<Looks at calendar> Mirror's Edge? Isn't this game like 2 years old?
I'm a city over from my nearest Gamefly distribution center so they get my game the next day and ship out the new one that same day, which I get the following day. I have 0 complaints with Gamefly and it has allowed me to play many games that I would never have bought... some great, some stinkers. Mirror's Edge was one of those games, but like eons ago.
Every now an...
Leisure Suit Larry taught me how to looooove
If you believe Crysis 3 will be 3D only, I have some beautiful beachfront property off the coast of Louisiana to sell you.
This has been the problem since day one with motion controls. 90% of game companies don't know how to improve the game by using them. Bioware is allowing you to speak the dialog wheel instead of selecting it in ME3. How does this improve the game? Is the game better for it or is it just a shiny new bullet item they can talk about? I would turn off that feature and go back to the controller.
The Star Wars game is now a lesser game due to Kinect because they want you to...
