I'd like to see a source on that if you don't mind. I've been a pretty big mario fan since the 80's and have never seen any material that explains anything that happens after the princess is saves. Yoshi rides and cake baking aside.
In the original super mario brothers manual it says that the subjects of princess toadstool (the toads) were turned into blocks....
Mario systematically murders them in almost all of his games. Thousands of them. Yet they stay friends of mario... not sure that lack of foresight is an endearing trait.
Never mind the cost to taxpayers
Mr mime, magnemite, pyrogon...
I would like to ride a chocoholic to a kfc just to let him know who the boss is.
You are right it does happen but it never will in a large blanket way that would stop the industry making traditional games all together. There will always be complaints about these 'tropes' because in some shape or form they will always be around.
I like when these people bring up the damsel in distress argument in regard to mario games, since it makes the man have to be the hero to be worthwhile as a male... that's all he is there for, to save the female or die...
Oh I didn't forget I just don't believe they seriously want the change they are pushing for. They know it's never going to happen, just like it never has in movies and if it did they would be out of money or at the very least have to find some other topic to make waves about.
I feel that the women who use such words put there own gender in a "victim" position in the minds of the reader. Once the emotional hook is planted the reader is more open to whatever the core message may be.
It's emotional blackmail. Support our ideals or be seen as a women hater.
Trolls pretend to be a part of whatever group helps them get a bigger rise out of people. Trolls are the problem here be they journalists, gamers or faux feminists (I like that better than SJW)
The anonymity of the internet makes a decent conversation about internet cultures hard because so many trolls fake a stance just to get a rise.
The problem with this whole thing is that there are trolls who will argue with anyone using rhetoric from both sides just for a laugh. It makes discussion between genuine parties on either side very difficult.
DDoS attacks, death threats and doxxing are all things that no one can actually prove came from gamers or SJW'S, trolls make the internet hard and not in a fun aroused kind of way.
Cultural misogyny would imply that women are hated or at least strongly disliked by the culture as a whole.
Personally I love women.
A feminist is someone who believes in equality, not someone who looks at things purely from a female perspective.

Well of course it does. Whether people reading this think gamergate is ludicrous, the fact is the consumer wants change. Gaming journalism has no choice whether it's right or wrong.
I think it has to do with inflated ideas of what the gameplay will be like by pr and marketing firms in gaming. Think Peter Molineux and fable.
I understand it's a marketing ploy but people really buy into what pr spin about the potential of their games only to be let down.
I think it's a very valid complaint for gamers to make when games don't live up to the hype.

Klefki is not evidence of being stuck in a rut. Pokemon has always had mons that are not all that inspired.
I wonder if the axis and alies board game classifies as a violent game? Or chess? Completely wiping out the opposing teams army isn't all peaches and creme after all.
The experience we get from a video game is deeply personal to us all on an individual level. We all appreciate and enjoy things on a personal level and the same is true of gender journalists. This is ok.
When those journalists have a vested (financial or personal) interest in a games success then it hardly has the kind of objectivity we the gaming media demand.
It's ok to knock votes off a review score because you find a story dull that others may rave ab...
The problem is with these people is they consider internet Trolls gamers. Not all Trolls are gamers and not all gamers are trolls. People who are writing death threats probably have no connection to gamergate at all. They are just doing it for the lulz.
Yes
I agree with you, when you look at what feminism really is it basically the same as egalitarianism. The premise is equality across the board.
The problem is many people see the word feminist as a symbol for women's rights because it has the "fem" in it and at its beginnings feminism strived to bring equality to a gender that clearly had less rights and privileges than the other.
These days, thanks to feminism that isn't so true anymore and ...
