Activision retains self marketing rights. Microsoft owns Activision so will be able to market as they wish. Sony has specific COD marketing rights currently. Those rights are to specific games and not the franchise itself.
It looks like complete garbage. They could have used store bought assets and it would have looked better than this. Simply cringe.
The licensing cost likely doesn't make it profitable.
What is up with the N4G title versus the article title? Article talks specifically on the settlement of the suit. "U.S. Justice Department settles with Activision over esports salary limits"
"Microsoft does not believe Xbox Game Pass does not disrupt its core business, but evidence indicates that the powerful mechanism indeed does just that." - whomever wrote that should be fired.
"...then only this week it was revealed that Microsoft WILL pull Call of Duty away from PlayStation after ten years." this is not fact and is simply speculation of worst case scenario from those hating on the MS/ABK deal.
No. Did you even read what the CMA said? The thought of removing COD from PlayStation would not benefit Microsoft in the long run based on submitted financial documentations.
Microsoft as they said is not removing COD from PlayStation or anyplace else. And they will add locations it can be played. Some have contract agreements with MSFT and others have bypassed the written contract as they have confidence it is in MSFT best interest to keep COD available and take them on t...
Xbox was not a "port". lol
CoD is not going any place. Just as Minecraft has stayed where it is so will CoD. Anyone imagining different is simply wrong.
Everyone that has been on a bend talking bad about Red fall is now up in arms that prior to acquisition there was development plans for PS5. rofl
Sony can create an alternative. With that said no guarantee is ever given that an alternative is going to exceed or match what is on the market now or in the future. And for sure if Sony expects to do any ki8nd of numbers as CoD they would have to be multiplatform like CoD is. That is a part of how CoD has lasted so long. But if Sony chose to go smaller with an exclusive competitor looking at only Sony console market earnings then it could do that too. But it would never reach CoD levels and ...
@Eonjay - nobody that signed the 10 year deal is worried about losing access to CoD. Sony the one that didn't sign is the only one worried about their future. Microsoft is simply voicing to Sony's own concern and claims of inability to compete while still leading the market. lol
And nobody is talking exclusivity at all except Sony. Microsoft has continued to claim CoD is going nowhere and the only people that imagine it is was Sony. The deals made were for Microsof...
"80 billion spent and not a single new game coming that wasn't already" what does that have to do with anything. Point being the ABK deal will open up their market to Nintendo and still remain on PlayStation for at minimum the 10 years with zero indications of it being removed from PlayStation to begin with.
@Outside_ofthe_Box - and Phil has specified that their method of the faith of that argument is with Game Pass. And they have offered Sony to put Game Pass onto PlayStation. Sony said... no.
@TheEnigma313 ~ so then meaning Sony has to rent big companies because they can't afford to buy them. I thought PlayStation gamers were all about buying instead of renting. But when it comes to exclusives I guess their tune changes. lol
@DogJosha - any idea that Rare is not achieving some great things under Microsoft is simply being ignorant of the truth. Sea of Thieves alone is greatness. And upcoming 'Everwild' and 'Perfect Dark' is keeping it busy.
Since being owned by Microsoft it has brought us the likes of Perfect Dark Zero, Viva Piñata series, Kameo: Elements of Power, Conker: Live & Reloaded, Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, Kinect Sports, Battletoads, Rare Replay. Develop...
"Support Controller Backward Compatibility" I myself consider a primary offering.
"Xbox Game Pass" too I consider a primary offering.
PS5 can offer quality exclusives but it just seems Sony is too busy remastering old games to care that much about new titles maybe? But I am sure they will keep trying to buy quality exclusives... too bad that hasn't faired well for them so far.
Obviously one being the fact it can be lifted using one hand with ease. lol
You can't triple double reversie the exclusivity argument. Microsoft is not the one complaining about exclusivity. Sony is publicly doing that while forgetting to point out their own exclusivity. Microsoft has simply acknowledged that exclusivity is a part of the business and that Sony's claims of Microsoft being the only ones allowed to do it is ridiculous.
For the pain you are directly feeling right now? lol
