I am reading so many people saying they have "seen" it and it just isn't what they expected. Absolutely having not played it at all and just reading hated reviews and possibly seen short videos. I myself don't like dual stick iso games but this one changed my mind and has me hooked. Same thing happened with tactical games I used to hate until I played X-Com. always a game out there that makes a game style worth playing. This game is that for me and dual stick iso-metric game...
8.1 user score tells the real story. Game is great.
When I first played it I didn't give it a chance and was confused with how to shoot and fight. But after I revisited I was able to get out of the beginning levels and into the real game with a new learned understanding of how to deal with numerous enemies and fight with different cyber perks and weapons. My go to is a leveled up pistol and leveled up shotty... while cybers change based on quest I am working towards.
"You are encouraged to raise your weapon to hit critical spots on your enemies; however, due to the isometric nature of the game, it can prove difficult to judge the height of your adversaries, leading to a lot of missed shots and frustrating deaths. This aiming system can be paired with cover in order to outlast your enemies. On paper, this works well—in practice it just leads to more frustration." - this here says a lot about the reviewer and his not understanding the basics of th...
I have not ran into any bugs at all. Only thing I have heard is people having some online co-op issues on PC but they have patched that last I heard.
I thought it was hard at first... but after figuring out how to deal with the enemies it became so much easier.
I have only liked ISO Metric games that are tactical based... until now. The Ascent has completely sucked me into its gameplay and story. I would list it as my GOTY so far... it is really that enjoyable for me. And I absolutely hate dual stick shooting games... but not this one! If a game is good enough to make me like a style of game I used to hate then it's got my vote and full support!
"And those were just a few of the reasons we believe going back to play older titles is better than ever. Price, Performance, Nostalgia and Timelessness, Challenge and Difficulty, and Accessibility are some of the most important reasons why older games today are worth your time." - meh Each of the reasons can still be found in games today. The crap games today are little different from the crap games of yesterday. And the good games today fair better than most good games of yesterda...
This is a new licensing policy by Unity to try and force Microsoft into paying the same way Sony and Nintendo have been doing. Previously it was free on Xbox development. Microsoft will be addressing the new requirements and options for new development needs.

Am I the only one that is getting tired of seeing all these ports/remakes instead of new titles?
I am seeing the game as having multiple play styles that is going to hurt it in reviews simply because it gives some reviewers a chance to hate on some game style they don't enjoy playing. As well there will be varied art style throughout the game that is going to be equally nitpicked to all ends. Contender... very likely. But winning GOTY.... too much stacked against it.
You act as if previous games mentioned early as GOTY contenders didn't equally have the same lead up? This isn't a new thing where media get a hold of a game first and predict it as a GOTY contender.
PS4 version will be just fine... as there is no PS5 version the experience on it will have to be via BC, and we know how that wont shine a bright light on the game.
Compared to the PS5 game reviews that read like a Sony advertising agent?
"Taking an early look at Psychonauts 2 on Xbox Series X" - obviously he is talking from the Series X gameplay he was basing his reporting from. Kind of hard to talk on other systems where he has not seen the experience maybe?
Not factual.
Sounds like your were emotionally invested in his words?
@randomvoice - though I don't agree with the low score (I see a 1/5 score as being only for a game that is seriously broken) I do agree with near all of his assessments in the article on the game.
@gravedigger - link to this top 50 most played games charts that ranks recent games being played. I would be curious to see it as I have found no such beats online searching.
