As a Sony fan i feel worried. Gamers need MS to continue the fight in the "hardcore" arena, forcing others to push the limits. Power to everybody.
If MS only releases Gears3 and Forza 4 this year, i expect delays on some of the spectacular Sony releases of 2011.

What simulator/semisimulator has realistic/credible damage as of today?
Seriously, developers would need 10x more time to program realistic damage and would need 10x more resources of the system, for a feature that normally would be enjoyed 10x less times than your normal driving. Is it really feasible?
Take burnout, motorstorm or other similar games to rejoice with the crashes. They are inherent to the core gameplay.
Let me add that you are supposed to believe that Sony are lying and Pachter is telling the truth.
Talking about gt5 flaws and inconsistencies, when i first played the game I noticed low quality shadows, pixel blocks blending with smoke, as well as some subpar textures here and there. It's there. It's surprising knowing PD standards, but you also see tons of great qualities, spectacular graphics, notable weather effects, etc...

Death, you make a good point. I know marketing campaigns have different effects. Some of them are indirect sales, some of them are brand perception which could be good in the long term, some are less sales for competitors, etc. But all this is not easy to weight in.
Microsoft and most companies nowadays need to balance short term budgets, and what i am saying reminds strictly correct. We just don't know exact numbers. But Kinect needs to sell much more than 5 milion to be profitab...

Maybe because when you talk about the past and the present (my wife uses xbox, my wife purchased 2 games, ...) you are talking about last week.
If in 6 months your wife is still using kinect and buying, let's say 1 game every 3 months, then i'll agree with your comment.
