If you look closely in the footage, you'll see what appears to be a wingtip... And it's grey/silver. So it's likely Meta Ridley. Based on the fact we only got to see the shadow and it didn't look too big AND the fact Sakurai didn't straight out say "Ridley is a boss", I'm thinking he's got a bigger chance of being playable now than ever before.
And even if Meta Ridley is a boss, it's not too farfetched to to argue normal Ridley still...
The inclusion of Zero Suit Samus, Sheik and Charizard doesn't mean others will be dropped. I don't think they'll be hogging roster-slots as they count as veterans more than newcomers. They already have a moveset as complete as any other veteran (they all get tweaks), and making them separate characters is good IMO. Usually you'd want to play as one or the other, now you don't need to worry about the extra luggage. Charizard will probably need a lot of work, so he's kin...
Is it wrong that I now want HD Minesweeper with real-time physics-based explosions, 3D rendered tiles with shaders, tessellation, havok-based flags and surround sound?
Game will have to make specific advantage, so it'll only affect new games built for DX12 and the few that'll patch in support.
I wish these improvements would affect all games (even those already released), not just those coming out using DX12. Imagine getting a significant improvement like this one day, on your already owned games without new hardware. Todays Nvidia driver should be good for DX11 though.
Good point actually, I have FF1-9 (except 5) on mine, so this would make for a killer collection, and one sweet FF page on the menu.
The way I see it; yes, developers can already code to the metal on the XO, but with DX12 it'll probably be a lot easier and more common among less tech-savvy devs as well. How big the improvement will be will vary from game to game, so let's let the developers speak the numbers, but this can't be seen as anything but good for all of us.
Sony fanboys shouldn't be hating, it makes them look jealous and rude. What if Sony announced a large improvement in API for ...
Yep, but not on steam.
What post-AA are they using on the PS3 that's got the same performance impact as a massive resolution boost?
Not sure if I'll go for PS3 or Vita... I'm leaning towards Vita, but the below native res and lesser framerate is making me unsure. Think I'll read a few reviews first.
Skype would be awesome on the Wii U, but Nintendo should evolve their already existing voice-chat feature into supporting voice chat while in-game.
I hope they actually make it feel like a franchise of its own and not like a copycat with a lick of Star Wars paint. And I'd prefer it to be more open than Uncharted, I want to explore the far away planets and cities.
Someone should use N4G for social studies. The comment section is usually more entertaining than the news.
Apparently, most people can't understand the meaning behind the word "only" in all caps. I'm not even a native English speaker, and I got it right away. It's not what you read, but how you read it. People on this site are way too trigger-happy.
Basically, every "disagree" should have been an "agree".
You'd be missing out. 4 player is where it's at, so the rest of us will get down and dirty at thirty.
Pretty sure it's still 720p, but the Wii U always output at 1080p. A 720p image with good image quality at 60FPS can "fool" people into thinking it's full HD, because it looks really clear.
Put it this way, if I told you it was 1080p, you'd probably believe me... At least for a while. The same goes for Pikmin 3 and 3D World. Stellar looking games.
I just want to mention that Mario Kart Wii did the same, and nobody complained. It's fine, it's better than an aggressive reduction to fidelity and it'll still run more stable than most games.
But is there content, or will the vast space just be filler? I wonder how detailed it'll be.
The boomerang came true!
I just want to mention that many games use cutscenes to hide the loading, so in some cases it makes sense that you can't skip. Yes, it's nice to be able to skip cutscenes in games when you've seen them before (like in Fire Emblem, when you reload a chapter because you lost a solider... Again), but I don't think it should be a must have feature in every game, and certainly not the first time through (I'm often scared of accidentally skipping).
August and November/December.
