Great read. I love the epic context.
These Facebook games remind me a lot of the BBS games of online gaming's infancy. Games like Farmville and Wii Sports are just another gateway to get more people interested in technology and interactive entertainment. I can't help but want them to succeed.
You're not considering the fact that multi-monitor gives you an ultra-wide field of view. You're not just gaming at 1920x1080 on a larger screen, you're gaming at 7680x1600. You can actually see more around you. Equate it to the difference between watching a pan & scan fullscreen vs. widescreen DVD on a 4:3 television. Also, multiple monitors can be positioned to "wrap" around you slightly, effectively increasing the immersion.
wha? is that 6 mini-dp ports? wonder if it comes with 6 mini-dp to dvi adapters.
...turns out it DOES come with 5 adapters. what a mess. think I'd still rather have a 5970. Or just another 5870.

I read another article related to this not long ago (if I can remember where, I'll post a link). My understanding is that copyright law for television programs in a digital space is currently an entirely gray area. Little or no precedent has been set, and everyone should know, it's not the law that matters, but the interpretation. It stands to reason that if one was, say, a cable television subscriber, who has perfectly legal access to the content, but chooses to download instead for purpo...
Sweet! Love this game, but a new map was desperately needed. Sounds like 3v3 is pretty game changing. Checking this out tonight!
Well I'm not a scrub, so dropping $70 isn't exactly the end of the world. However, I'll just use some of the USB flash drives I have lying around the house, and thank Microsoft for adding the ability to do so. Seriously, is this the first time a peripheral has been overpriced because of the brand name? Come to think of it, who pretty much invented that tactic anyway? Not gonna say it.
never used impulse before but this deal sold me. been wanting to play the witcher for a while now. great deal.
...is run the games in the same resolution. As always, high-end PC users benefit from a higher screen resolution (but should not be affective of a head2head, imo), higher texture resolution, better anti aliasing, anisotropic filtering, higher framerate, and better load times. Metro 2033 also uses advanced depth of field and tesselation effects exclusive to DirectX 11, obviously only available on a PC running a Radeon HD 5xxx card, or 3DVision and PhysX acceleration, if you are running w/ nV...
I must've missed the part of the video where they talk about/demo the technology. Was that before the Sheridan College commercial or after the Tourism Ontario ad?
EA servers do suck. Anyone remember NHL09 online for 3 months after launch? I still haven't picked up NHL10 due to the bad taste, so not sure if it was any better. Oh and Tiger Woods 08 I think, Gameface servers and many online features were broken at launch.
If they are reviewing the game seperately on each system, then would it not spell victory for the PS3 to have a lower review score? Assuming a review is scored relative to other games on the platform, would a lower PS3 score not indicate that in general, the titles on PS3 are of a higher quality? That's what I get out of it, but I'm not a fanboy.
360 RULEZZZZzzz.
Short version: The games are not scored against each other. Thx for the non-news.
Well it's gone from a Turbografx 16 classic to a Playstation classic. You can't really blame someone for being 15 yrs old, I guess, but this is a Sega CD original, released in 1993 by Working Designs.
I wonder when they'll create an official "Press Release" account. You know your co. is full of board whores and forum junkies when...
I love this game - had the original on Sega CD and then SSS:Complete on PSX - but, how many times are they going to re-release it? Not sure its simplicity will fly with today's audiences.
This argument will be settled soon with one word... Primetime.
Nothing compares to LAN multiplayer!!! This "article" is unsupported opinion and pointless blather. Anyone who has gamed w/ a friend sitting next to them knows this is infinitely more fun than playing on Live or Steam or PSN with a headset strapped to your face. If the author of the editorial was in my area, I'd invite him over out of pity.
I just wanted to point out that you don't need a PS3 to have a PSN account... I have had a PSN account (formerly Playstation Underground) for years and haven't owned a PS2 or a PS3. I have a PSP. It seems that the assumption is that every PSN account comes from a PS3 customer. The article even insinuates that PS3s must have multiple PSN accounts to make the math work. Journalism at its finest.
This is Battlefield 1942 maps redone w/ the Frostbite engine (from Battlefield: Bad Company), correct? BF1942 was one of my faves from years back, along with the original Rainbow Six!
Definitely agree w/ 1. More proof that this is a glorified map pack. So was Left 4 Dead. Has Valve even done anything to the Source engine since HL2 Episode 2 (minor tweaks)? Serious question!
Realistic lighting and shadows is, in my opinion, the one thing holding games back from being truly immersive and believable. I am quite excited to see more and more realistic shading techniques becoming prevalent. Recent games like Metro 2033 and Bad Company 2 are really pushing the envelope. I've been wanting to replay HL2+eps, and I've had my eye on Cinematic Mod for a while. Well I'm downloading CM10 right now, and will definitely be getting 10.4 when it's available.
PS...
