Love for Atlus is a good thing. :)
Lol, I can play PS2 games on my PC but not my PS3 :(
Aside from preorders, the EB Games (Gamestop) in my admittedly small Canadian city only had three copies each on launch day. I did see it at Walmart today though.
It's a great game. Don't give up!
That noise is the point going over your head.
Great post, and while I disagree with the example, I certainly agree with the point.
Games are what we do for fun. They are entertainment; a way to get away from the trials and tribulations of the "real world". When I get home from work, the last thing I want is to sit in front of the TV/monitor and feel like I'm going to my second job.
This is how World of Warcraft had started to feel for me years ago, which led to me all but leaving that...
Sweet, so I get to watch a light-show while I rail-grind my way to victory!
Vive la REAL driving simulator!
Oh, the grip thing is cool.
Have to agree. The lines defining genres are becoming fuzzy, as every game tries to be everything to everyone. Gone are the days where we can point to a game and say, "That's a shooter," or, "Yup, that's an RPG." Everything is blurred together in an attempt to appeal to the largest number of consumers and amass more sales.
Well put, Chad. I couldn't agree with you more. The Bioware quote (whether intentionally representative of the company or not, it is) is little more (or better) than the childhood playground banter, "My dad can beat up your dad." Live and let live; or should I say, game and let game.
Considering that Sony doesn't actually turn a profit on hardware sales (unless very recent articles are to be believed), they would definitely NOT want to sell 2,200 units with a guaranteed attach rate of 0.0 games/peripherals.
It would be funny, though, if the USAF joined the class action lawsuit.
"There is no worse feeling in the world for a gamer than realizing that their account has been hacked."
I'd think a worse feeling would be waking up and realizing you've been living in a game for years.
I am currently playing through and loving FFXIII. It's pretty much exactly what I've been looking for in an RPG for the past few years; a great story, characters I care about, a fast and fun battle system, and a fresh next-gen coat of paint.
It's one of my favorite FF games to be sure, and I have played every numbered game from I to XIII, as well as most of the spinoffs like Tactics, Crystal Chronicles, Crisis Core, Dissidia, etc.
I was also extremely disappointed with ME2, especially considering Mass Effect was one of my favorite games ever. They stripped most of the RPG elements out of the game, and left me with a completely unsatisfying action-fps title with barely a shadow of character development, zero inventory management (replaced by the worst equipment upgrade system ever), and episodic missions complete with a score tally that made me feel like I was playing through levels, not an evolving experience.
I was gonna say the same thing. Development time should have absolutely zero bearing on the review score. Was Avatar docked points because James Cameron has been working on it since Titanic? No, and why would it be?
I recently read an article, I think on Gamepro.com, talking about this exact issue with Metacritic. I still don't see it as an issue, since one review isn't going to greatly influence the game's metascore, but is this a clear example of the anti-...
I definitely remember distinct arena floors (hardwood patterns, parquet, etc) back in the SNES days. I haven't played an NBA title since then, though.
I was in heaven the second I pressed Start. <3
That looks epic. I don't think it will do so well without the NFL license though. I also like the shaky-cam while running ala Gears of War.
Bought a PS3 the other day just so I can play 3D Dot Game Heroes. Also going to pick up Alan Wake for sure, and will grab Red Dead Redemption after that, but not sure for which console. I wish there was a PC version. Damn I wanted to finish FFXIII before all this, but that's not looking good. :(
The NFL2Kx games were superior to Madden, at a time when the Madden series was growing stale, little more than a yearly roster update. These days, there seem to be a lot more enhancements made to the Madden games with the yearly revisions, something for which I think we can thank 2K Sports and the competition they provided. I think it's complete BS, though, that someone can have exclusivity to the NFL/PA licenses. Anti-competition at it's finest.
Never played Farmville or anything else on Facebook, but I'd be glad not to have to pore through three hundred Farmville/Mafia Wars updates each time I check my wall. I'd be willing to bet that 40mil of those 80mil players won't follow them if they leave Facebook, though.
Will these hit the greatest hits series in NA as well? I was going to pick up Uncharted 2 this week (as soon as I finish Uncharted; just got my PS3), but I can hold off if I'll save $30.
