There heat problems with the 4870?
IF so.. Then yes of course lol cause it's gonna be 2 of them slapped on each other.. Even more heat buildup.
Surprised they didn't launch it 55nm... It's been long overdue for them to move to 55nm.
Sure will be a great chip once it's 55nm tho.. Plus it will be cheaper since more of them will fit on each Wafer. Lowering production costs per chip.
They should try not including any programs like "PunkBuster" next time...
People don't like having thing's like that installed on their computer just so they can play 1 game.
9800GTX is only $200 now :P
(8800GT with some improvements :) )
"For every unit of software that is pirated, not only is the initial sale lost"
That's not true AT ALL! lol.
A huge percent of the people who download pirated copies, are either to poor to buy the software in the first place. Or never really wanted the software that much to buy it.
(Yes of course, many others also pirate it just cause they don't want to pay for things even if they can.) But the effect truly is over exaggerated.
GTX 280 is still a waste of money.
You can get 2 9800GTX's for $200 each.
So $400 for 9800GTX 2-way SLI. Which outperforms the GTX 280 sometimes even lol.
The consoles use old and cheap graphics chips.. ATI doesn't work on chips for the consoles.. They just take a cheap one of theirs, and fit it to work with the console.
If the next console generation is so exciting, then the next PC GPU generation is even more exciting <_<.
4870 cost's $300 US dollars.. And the GTX 260 is dropping to $300 also..
Wow, theres companies that get away with giving that horrible of monthly caps? That's insane..
The one I have here in Canada is 10mbps(25mbps temp boosts) and a 100gb monthly limit. But not an actual CAP.
I just torrent it as soon as it comes out.
And if it turns out to be a good game, I'll go and pay for it later.
You mean....
Sorta like what CUDA does on the GPU?
Since a GPU is already made of of 100's of little cores. LOL.
Look's like CPU's will be becoming more like GPU's overtime.. So what's the point. Just let the GPU take over :).
VIVA LA CUDA!

This is the video that picture is from.
This is a video of real time rendering with 100% ray tracing in Cinema 2.0. You can actually look around the scene as it's happening.
Your friends don't have to be nerdy, to pressure you into using Mac's.
Secondly.. Coming on a gaming website and telling someone to get rid of their nerdy friends? that's... lol.
Depends on what part of the UK. Some ares have very high speed connection for affordable prices. While other areas internet infrastructure is much less developed and much more expensive.
Indeed there are some places in the UK where 100mbps connections are common place.
They did a full scale test. Why not? It allows a person to see results of many cards grouped together. They didn't do JUST the 9800GTX's..
Why the hell is everyone using 9800GTX+ in their comments for reviews lately?
The f*cking 9800GTX+ isn't out for a few weeks still. There's no way you can use it in comparisons yet.
And BTW! You can get a 9800GTX for $200 now. That's 100$ less than a 4870, and only a little less performance.
I love my Windows XP. And just because a new OS comes out, is no reason to have to change.
So what if Vista came out. Doesn't mean XP is useless now. It's still as it always is. So you don't HAVE to choose between a Mac or Vista or Linux or whatever!
And with the news about XP being supported for years to come now, that's even more assurance :).
Dude, are you even thinking before you type?
The 9800GTX+ isn't out yet. Do you even know what the + stands for?
It stands for 55nm. 9800GTX+ is going to be Nvidia's first 55nm card. It's just a die shrink of the 9800GTX. Which will allow for less power consumption and some higher clock rates.
The "9800GTX" is only $200 right now. Nvidia has dropped the price so they can sell them before the 9800GTX+ comes out. Which also is going to be priced ...
@JoelR: You know what's funnier tho?
A 4870 just barely beats a 9800GTX...
4870=$300
9800GTX=$200 (Price just dropped a few days ago)

Yeah, hopefully it's a new architecture.. It's long overdue..
The gt200 chip is just an oversized g92.
Architecture hasn't changed much since the 7 series.
