Well because most game engines use a pretty specific set of resource formats, it's not a very hard task to do. For example, the 360's GPU is restricted to DX9, so all the engine has to do is run a downgrade on functions to DX9 when it converts to 360. Same goes with Shader Model 4, it has to be downgraded to SM3 for the 360. Most other parts of the engine don't have to be changed, just some minor subsystem changes to accommodate a consoles configuration. Models with lower poly counts will nee...
The reason I can make predictions like this is because I have a very good understanding of how GPU's work and what the RAM is required for. I've also fallowed the game/graphics/tech industry for over a decade, so I'm quite knowledgeable in this field.
Do you really think there is going to be a much higher resolution TV produced within 2-3 years that people are going to be buying up? Hell no, HDTV still has a lot of customers to gain and it would piss a ton of people off if an ev...
Lol, uncomfortable computer chair and small screen? What, are you living in the 80's?
Firstly, there are tons of computer "chairs" that are way more comfortable than anything you've probably sat your ass on. And PC monitors have become quite big. Regular size now is 20-30 inch. And you can get 1920x1200 resolution screens :P, That's 1200p :). (Or if you have the cash 2560x1600.)
So you enjoy your 720p and sometimes 1080p gaming with low graphics settings an...
As shown on their Engine's page.
"Target all current-gen platforms. Vicious Engine 2 will convert your game to the PLAYSTATION®3, Xbox 360®, and high-end PC platforms simultaneously with the push of a button."
So it's developed on the PC of course, like all games, and thus it's a PC version when it's first made. (All effects and high detail content available). Then "with the push of a button", it will apply all the restriction relative to ...
No, that would just be a tech demo. What is being shown is an actual playable demo. And no not on steam, but when someone says "released" then it obviously has to be somewhere. It specifically says they released a fully playable demo. Otherwise it would say they have released footage of their engine in action.
Yeah I realize that. I'm saying, I can't find the demo that's being played anywhere.
The video says "Vicious Cycle has released a fully-playable demo for their new engine."
So where is this fully-playable demo, is what I'm talking about.
Look pretty good. Can't seem to find the demo anywhere though =/
Wow they were able to join up with Image Metrics? That's awesome.

Yeah it's cool how these things work. If anyone has ever seen that Mythbusters episode where they test supposed anti-gravity devices, this works the same way as that flying tinfoil triangle they tested.
"but clearly 12TB is way ahead of the consumer per gig curve you know?"
Hardly. With better graphics, comes higher poly counts and higher resolution textures. A single 3D model with 2 million polygons is well over 100MB. But still, having the GPU power to compute a game full of such high details models is still a ways off.
"I am not saying that the RSX is bad I was just stating that they need to toss in a good GPU into the next PS."
A...
There's a link to it in the story. Here it is:

The Safety Warning makes me lol..
"This Product is for Adult Collectors. It may contain sharp points, small parts that are choking hazards, and other elements that are not suitable for children under 16 years of age."
16 or older? Haha....
Except they won't. Because it's all about optimizing the manufacturing cost's to maximize profits. (Although Sony decided to make an even more powerful console, and sell it for cheaper than it cost's to make.)
The PS3 only has 256MB of GDDR3 memory for it's graphics, and 256MB XDR memory for everything else. While the Xbox 360 has 512MB of GDDR3 RAM for it's graphics.
What your suggesting is what PC's already do, so start PC gaming :P lol.
The next generation consol...
Mmmm, I love me sum cache!
Very interesting article on the history of graphics cards.
32-Bit cannot address more than 3GB, doesn't matter the OS.
And OS can implement something like PAE (Physical Address Extension) but it's not always the most stable option.
To use more then 3GB efficiently and stably, you need to use a 64-Bit OS.
Also, you should take a look at this on the subject of ram speed:

Very interesting read. Although, since I do 3D Modeling/Animation, I need TONS of RAM for the ultra high poly counts. 3D Models easily get into the GB range.
Yeah, never buy a Dell or most of those basic home computer sellers. The OS is filled with bloatware and is usually the basic poor performing version and with poor quality parts inside. It's no wonder your friends PC's performed like sh!t.
And Alienware is good at cramming a TON of performance into a laptop, more than any other company does. It just comes at a hefty price.
Interesting, I didn't know there were so many CUDA enabled programs out already. Even more reason for me to get a Nvidia card, kinda helps justify Nvidia's higher price to performance than ATI.
12GB is pretty much a waste unless you work in 3D Modeling & Animation.

But it seems like you have money to burn anyway lol.
Wow, USB 3.0 has some crazy ass transfer speed O_O. Should make our internet lines out of USB 3.0 cables! haha.
