This isn't the fastest SSD.

Fusion-IO makes the fastest ones. They are so fast that they need to be used in a PCI-E 2.0 slot to have enough bandwidth. Because even the new SATA 3.0 doesn't have enough bandwidth. (SATA 3.0 = 768MB/'s)

No, actually it's GPU's that have something to do with it.

GPU's are starting to really invade Intel's space in the general computing market. So now Intel is trying to take the same computing approach, instead of just bashing the approach.

Think of this as a Larabee concept without the graphics support.

Even Windows can be run from a thumb drive.

@cranium: Processor types of all kinds are being used to study all kinds of things. It's not just PS3's that are studying black holes lol. That would be epic fail if it was only PS3's.

Crysis 2 will be the first of course. Since Crytek get's such a big head start with the engine before everyone else.

Yeah, the whole Direct2D thing is a big boost for it. I hope other browsers like Firefox adopt Direct2D GPU acceleration, or at east some form of GPU acceleration.

More reasons to buy in 2010 for sure. No good reason to buy one this year, unless you just want a bit of increased performance regardless of DirectX.

Yeah, looking at country wide polls for other things, it's obvious a good portion of the country is stupid/retarded. So this 50% should be considered more like 90 ish % of people who know wtf their talking about.

As long as they don't dump it and sell the IP to Toyota like they did for their QRIO robot.

I hate you for that Sony! That little guy was revolutionary <_<, doesn't matter if you were bleeding money on it.

Yep, it's sad they didn't choose to include the originator of this technique in their story. Making it seem as if Robert came up with this idea on his own.

@OmarJA:

If the major anti-virus companies were really that corrupt, then we'd see them targeting Mac's also. They wouldn't want to leave that market untouched. Since people in that market tend to have the money, and be stupid enough to pay for an anti-virus program.

Fact of the matter is, there are thousands of hackers young and old trying to infect users and profit from the information they gain. Especially with computers becoming more and more popular with each ne...

If you took the time to read, this isn't news about the benchmark being released. This is an article comparing performance of different cards running the benchmark.

Why would you think we won't be seeing much of it when the 2nd and 3rd gen DX11 cards come out?

5943d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

Well they are using a pretty heavy amount of tessellation in this demo. And since they are trying to show off the detail of tessellation, they don't have it setup to dynamically scale back tessellation based on a persons hardware. Game designers will have to take performance into account. That's the difference between a benchmark and a game.

There's still the third party boards though that include support for SLI or XFire. And hopefully that Lucid Hydra chip makes it out into production and actually lives up to the hype, cause it could solve this problem completely. MSI already demonstrated a working board with it.

nForce boards have never really been the best choice anyway. ASUS/EVGA/Gygabyte make better boards.

@vegnadragon:

Tessellation was used in Mass Effect on the 360. Go look it up for yourself and see.

The way tessellation works, it doesn't fill the memory like a normal model of such a high polygon count would. Your memory still loads a basic model, but then applies a tessellation algorithm to the mesh increasing polygon count and uses a displacement map to displace the newly created vertex points.

The hardware tessellation on ATI GPU series 2000 and up, including the Xbox 360 one, doesn't have as many features as the one implemented by DirectX 11. Not to mention it has to be hard coded into your engine, as it's not part of DirectX 9 or 10.

And it's already been used on Mass Effect on the Xbox 360, MetalGearRising. Most developers haven't used it on the Xbox though because it would take a considerable amount of coding to put in their engine and work on the 360. With DirectX...
