@kwyjibo: Nvidia never said it would come out 6 months ago. That's when ATI's card came out. Around that time, Nvidia had stated that the cards would be coming by the end of November or early December if things went smoothly. But things didn't go smoothly. TSMC's yields stayed horrible, and thus Nvidia had to delay the launch until now so they could do another respin of the chip and get them in the hands of card manufacturers.

Most of the big name card companies have the cards in th...

The iPad is an vastly overpriced piece of junk. Go read about it's iSuppli price breakdown lol.

There is much more awesome tablet's coming out that use Nvidia's Tegra 2 system, which is MUCH more powerful. And you'll have a much more open operating system to use and install the cool applications you'd like. (Emulators ftw.)

You wanna now why they don't compare it to the 5970? Because the 5970 is a DUAL GPU card. Whereas the 480/470 is a single GPU card.

And actually no, ATI's 6000 series won't be out until early 2011. ATI will first do a refresh of this series, and later again under 28nm which will probably be called the 6000 series, but won't be anything new, just more cores. The actual new architecture from ATI isn't coming until sometime in 2011.

@HolyOrangeCows:

One would assume you already own a computer. And thus already own an OS. So why pay for the OS again? Just install it on the new computer. Hell you don't even need to, just add your hard drive from your old computer to this one, set it as the master and boot up. You'll need to install new drivers of course for the new hardware.

GTX 480 = 250w
HD 5970 = 300w
HD 5870 = 188w

All that matters is the performance, as long as it's under 300w. Electricity is pretty cheap, it shouldn't be the deciding factor on your choice. It's a difference less than an extra light on in your house. And that's only if you had your GPU on full load as much as a light would be on lol.

Btw, there is going to be a 512 shader version later once TSMC improves yields. So for those of your looking for top performance...

Yep. The DRM is actually making piracy worse. It's too bad that the managers of these developers are too blinded by money and what the DRM companies are telling them to realize it's doing more harm than good.

If there is DRM on a game, I choose to pirate it and not buy it. It sends a good message to the developers that as paying customers we won't stand for it. As it only effects us and not the pirates.

Actually Microsoft has made many. Just not in the usual aspect. Sure they haven't developed any franchises that they actually own. But they have had a hand in many games out there. And any PC game that uses the "Games for Windows Live" DRM platform will usually of had a good development hand from Microsoft.

It's also supposed to be the last generation.

@AngryFork: I agree that they really need to make a true 3D game of Pokemon, and even more so an MMO. But sadly Nintendo's fear of kids being exposed to naughty words online seems to be keeping such ideas from becomming a reality. It's so sad =/. It ruined the Wii's online play also.

And the last 2 Pokemon games on the DS actually did use 3D models for a lot of the environment. But the DS just isn't powerful enough to mak...

Uhh, where exactly can you get to 5850's for less than that? I hope your not converting that to USD and then comparing price. Because it doesn't work like that in the GPU industry. Cards are generally priced around the same number in most countries, regardless of exchange rate. Except for countries where it's a crazy exchange rate on the currency like Japan.

@Nicaragua:

You forgot another variable in that equation.

"X" number of broken consoles replaced.

A large majority of them we're replaced after breaking. So without including that number also, your equation for user base would be far off. Replaced broken consoles aren't included in the sales number.

@Nicaragua:

Wrong. I explained why the infrared camera can do the job much better from a technical standpoint. But you fail to understand it, writing it off as "jibberish". Or perhaps you're too blinded by ignorance to accept it.

And I don't know best, but I do know better than you when it comes to the subject of technology. It's been a passion of mine since I was a young teen. I also do 3D modeling, animation, rendering, digital art, and dabble in some pro...

»"My own PC is an i7 and to say that there is a noticeable difference between an i7 opening IE and a P4 opening IE is laughable – there is zero noticeable difference to the end user despite the massive difference in technology. With any hardware and software application there is a point where increase in performance is negligible, despite increases in hardware technology."«

Have you benchmarked the performance of IE on your i7 system compare...

@Nicaragua:

Actually you are able to see difference between the 2 processors on non intensive programs. Because the i7 is capable of doing the operations quicker than the Pentium 4.

And no, the conversation seems to be going more like this:

“Natal is Better”
“they do the same thing, because I said so!”
“but Natal has better tech”
“they do the same thing, because I said so!”
“but Natal does it better”
“the end result is the s...

@Nicaragua:

Did you not read the @biggest part at the start of my last post? It means it was in reply to biggest, not you. So obviously there was stuff in the post being replied to of which you never talked about.

Now onto your second paragraph:
Who is to say it does it because it's different technology? Lol? Really? Did you even think that through at all? That's like saying "Who is to say Core i7 can do a better job than Pentium 4 just because it's differ...

@Biggest:

No, you're merely misunderstanding. You're splitting apart my paragraphs sentences into individual statements instead of reading them as a whole and in the context of a response to what Nicaragua was saying. When I said you could throw a grenade, that was in the context of Natal enhancing the experience. In a situation where you're still using your remote to play Halo, but you could quickly lift one arm and throw to throw a grenade. And I was agreeing that with FPS game...

@Nicaragua:

I didn't deny the PS Eye could do facial recognition or voice recognition. And sure any microphone can technically do voice recognition. But does that make all microphones equal at doing it? Hell no. The PS Eye and Natal have multi-array microphones, which are better at breaking down the sound for voice recognition. Who has a better microphone for it is unknown though.

Facial recognition is same as above but quality of camera comes into play instead. Nata...

GPU's are typically priced the same amount regardless of exchange rate. The same goes for video games. It's a sad reality.

The thing is, Apple isn't the first one out of the gate with a unique idea this time. It's basically a large iPod Touch.

Before the iPad was even announced, many other companies had already shown off full screen touch tablets of around the same size that would be shipping this year also. With a plethora of them being shown of back at CES on January 7-10th.

So it's not that people are saying the idea will fail, they are merely saying Apple's attempt will fail. It's ov...

This guy doesn't seem to be aware of the fact that Natal isn't just using a camera like the PS Eye. Natal also has an infrared sensor and an infrared light emitter. It doesn't matter what's going on with the light levels in your house, it's not operating on that wavelength. It's only looking at infrared wavelength light, which it's also controlling the amount of.

Another fact critics seem to be missing is that you aren't forced to stop using your controller when Natal is plugged ...

Nope. Not for the average consumer or even hardcore PC gamer. No games will be able to utilize all those cores for AT LEAST a few more years. And only a few types of applications if your in the science, video, or game industry.

The Core i7 920, overclocked past 4Ghz is the best deal and will be all you'll need for quite some years to come. Especially with games becoming more and more reliant on the power of the GPU, not the CPU.

You'd be better off getting a dual socket mo...
