Wrong, Sony owns Spider-Man since 1997 or so. Marvel is the one that has to ask THEM to use the license.
Edit: Sony fully owns Spider-Man, and related characters including ALL merchandise as long as they release a movie every 5.75 years. They agreed to the Marvel movies because they got a 25% cut of the profits.
So after 3 generations of of no new ips they end up buying existing ones and here you are acting as if they’ve accomplished something. I guess everyone’s ass is for sale if the price is right.

What’s your opinion on why arcade games aren’t loved on consoles? Why aren’t play and go games desired? Why are Crazy taxi, Daytona usa, virtua cop type games only reserved for vr now? I’m asking a lot feel free to ignore lol
Going from 12 to 13 was a step in the right direction even though 13 was awful as well.
What was the point of playing then?? I absolutely hated this system I turned the game off after a couple of hours because of it. No reason to do anything just sit back and watch, or run away. Completely removed the point of playing entirely.
Different scenarios. Activision being 3rd party took the accountability off Sony even if there was bias. Not the same for Microsoft being the owners. They will ALWAYS be held responsible going forward.

Same issue with psvr, it’s always the software. 3-4 great-decent titles doesn’t warrant a purchase outside of the niche audience especially since most of the stuff is shovelware.

As someone whose been an employee of a company being taken over, the pure disgust the employees must have for this guy cannot be measured.

I would say neither Sony NOR Marvel can make the independent determination to include Spider-Man in a game, however Sony owns all merchandise and movie rights.
“Because of Sony’s unique relationship with Marvel and PlayStation, specifically, that gives us an affordance with Spider-Man that we wouldn’t have otherwise. So that’s something unique because of that relationship”.
