Lol, you do realize that while 8gigs of ram is awesome it has a very lackluster and 2 generation old GPU in it right? (the thing that actually makes the graphics look good in layman terms)
And from the looks of it the way the architecture is the Xbox will probably be neck and neck again with the PS4. That ESRAM is sexy stuff. Its another win for all gamers.
The tech under the hood and the controller do nothing for me. But the real problem and reason I have not yet bought one is that there are not enough games for it that make me want to buy it.
They threw away a lot of R&D for nothing if the cost is really that high. I could build a beast of a machine for that much money.
LOL! The PS4 has a GPU that is OUTDATED already by two generations of PC hardware and it hasn't even been released yet. I've had 8gigs of DDR3 RAM in my PCs for over 4 years now. The only reason I haven't upgraded beyond 8 is because NO GAME uses more than 3.5 currently.
Will the PS4 be a beast of a console? Hell yes it will! Will it out-power most PCs for years to come? Yes- NON GAMING PCs. Will it outpower current mid level gaming rigs? NO. It is already outdat...
I think consoles will come to an end at some point in the near future as a certain level of graphic fidelity is so cheap it is built into your Television sets or Internet 2.0 is fast enough to stream content with minimal latency.
The next big battle will be services like STEAM vs Origin vs Battle.net vs UbiUplay sort of thing.
I will own the PS4, new Xbox, Steambox, and upgrade my gaming PC as needed. There really is enough room for all of them if you have a family/kids and enough money to go around.
At THIS point with what we are told now if I had to pick just one I would choose the PS4. But I may change my mind on that when I finally get a chance to see what MS has up its sleeve.
I really wonder if this is going to be a problem with the new consoles. Are they not rumored to be "always on" or is it just Microsoft?
The new Command and Conquer is looking crazy good. But it is a F2P game like LoL or Dota2 and it is PC only. As far as other games coming out I really can't think of any EA title that I just "have to have".
If you don't optimize for it. It is very true. But given that it is a close system I expect to see them do things right. Even 8gigs of slow DDR3 would be reason to rejoice on a console. I can't tell you how surprised I was to learn that they really went for a whole 8 gigs. Its crazy. The CPU/GPU is not that fantastic. Already outdated by two generations of PC parts. But still with 8gigs of ram they should be able to pull off some serious eye candy for a console.

Never gonna happen. But I certainly understand the desire for that mode.
AMD has a better price/power/performance ratio and has for years. Not to mention AMD is willing to sell the rights to the custom chips which allows Sony/MS to control the cost and future iterations of the chip. If I am not mistaken that is why MS chose them for the 360 over Nvidia which they used in the original Xbox.
And of course Nvidia is willing to allow the use of these programs. If the royalty pay out is right why not?

Just because it says it will be released on next gen consoles doesn't mean it will be available on those consoles on the games release date or that the consoles themselves will be available at the time of release.

The PS4 will be native DX11 because the PC part being put in it supports DX11. There is no "answer" to DX11 since it is a DX11 video card.

It is a low end CPU with a mid-low GPU. But you've seen what devs have done with the pathetic PS3/Xbox hardware over the years. I have no doubt that games will be stunning on the next gen titles for quite some time to come.
