It was the same for me. I LOVED my Xbox360 while my PS3 only collected dust until and uncharted game came around. But this next gen I find myself wanting only the PS4 and the thought of owning an X1 leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
They've pretty much lost me.
As a PC gamer (mostly) I am excited about this generation of consoles. Our games are finally going to be optimized for the PC thanks to the fact both of the big two are using close to out of the box PC parts.
You think it runs good on the console? Wait to see how slick it runs on a gaming PC! Everyone wins this gen. (with the exception of the Xbox1 always online/drm crap)
Steam has an offline mode and promise in the user agreement that should steam ever stop being a service there will be the ability to DL your games and print them to disc so that you can play them later on any machine.
Also- If I own 10 games on steam I can be logged on to 10 different PCs and have a copy of each of the 10 programs running at the same time.
That is just the beginning of the difference between Steam and the X1.
After this breaking news story of them being a "provider" of all data do you really expect us to believe that MS is NOT going to sell all of our data and NOT listen in on/watch us even though they say they are not? - http://www.washingtonpost.c...
I can see what he means about doing the same cover system/stealth over and over. But for my naughty dogs games have always been superb not because of the gameplay itself but the presentation in which the gameplay takes place, the detail to story and the game world itself making it so much fun you don't care that you are covering and firing the same way you would in a game such as Gears of War.
Their games are much more than the gameplay, the graphics, the plot, or the p...
PCs are not region locked or require mandated updates to their OS in order to play games. So no. The PC is not more restrictive than the PS4. And Sony has not said one way or the other about DRM and how it actually works on the PS4 yet. Although I doubt whatever the PS4 uses as DRM will be overly restrictive. Sony seems to have really brought their A-game this time around.
It started, and failed, on the PC. Then picked up by consoles where I expect it to fail eventually as well. That is assuming like the PC gaming crowd the console crowd makes a big enough stink and refuses to buy the offending products.
add $100 to that and I might believe it.
They'll probably port it. I am getting it for PC this time around more than likely though so for me it won't matter one way or the other. LOVED the first one. Can't wait for this one.
Lol @ TheSurg. Didn't you know N4G is a community made up of about 75% sony fanboys? you are no the first person on this site to prove it.
Intel chips are a little better priced than they have been in the past. But then you start looking at certified RAM and the outrageous cost of Intel Motherboards is crazy.
I love Nvidia. But still. Zzzzzzzzzzzzz....
If you can put legos together you can build a PC. It is so dumbed down a trained monkey can do it.
"Smaller experiences".. that statement alone shows how out of touch they are with Indie devs and their contempt for them.
The video card in the systems are kind of under-powered. That is how. Throw all the RAM you want at it but it is still the video card that needs to be beefed up.
The video cards are certainly more powerful than current gen. But When ActiBlizz just wants to put in higher rez textures/run at a higher native rez without spending the time and money optimizing it they might sacrifice 60fps for a quick turnover on their investment.
I am on the fence about buying it. It does look ridiculously awesome. How is the multiplayer?
Actually that isn't true. Console sales of CoD destroy the PC sales. But PC sales and most importantly profit margins are much higher on the PC as a whole. You can say no all you want but it is true. And now the mobile space as crazy as it sounds is actually starting to compete with PC sales and bucking console sales right now as well.
You can talk about it being casual this, MMO that, RTS this but the truth is that PC and even mobile sales dwarf that of consoles. Why? B...
I don't play very many racing games but Drive Club gets my vote.
Seems kinda strange that BF3 on my PC (with ALL of the overhead that comes with windows) only uses about 3.5-4gigs of RAM even when running maxed in stereoscopic 3D but his game running on a console that doesn't go above 1080p resolution is using 5gigs of RAM. Granted my PC doesn't share RAM with the GPU but that still seems like sloppy coding on the part of his dev team.
However his statement is still 100% correct. The RAM in the Xbox1 is dirt cheap. I can pick up 8...
