I would argue that Anthem is a far FAR bigger failure than Fallout: 76, Metal Gear Survive, Lawbreakers, and Mass effect: Andromeda COMBINED.
Unlike Star Citizen, I'm hopeful that this kickstarter game will be released.
I think the reason why people are so focused on Days Gone's review scores is because reviews are what helped us avoid games like Anthem, Mass Effect: Andromeda, Crackdown 3, and Sea of Thieves. So when another hyped game comes out with a similar score, many start believing it falls under that same category. I don't blame those who follow review scores, but at the same time, you gotta find out for yourself if the game is good or not.
I have never heard of any of these games...
I don't know. Do you really want to spend money on a game that many reviewers are saying is not as good? Look at Anthem. A lot of us dodged a bullet by listening to reviewers and other opinions.
How is this any different from Street Fighter V? That game gave you the choice to either buy the characters, or play the game to unlock them. People seemed fine with that.
Can they just toss the game to the side and move on?
I think it's rather unfair to not include XI and XIV because they're multiplayer games. They are mainline Final Fantasy games. They deserve a spot.
During MKX's development, didn't they say they wouldn't turn characters from previous games into DLC? If so, what changed since?
You're worried about Ratchet and Clank, which had a game only 3 years ago, when Jak and Daxter hasn't had a new game in a decade?
This is why PC gaming is looked down upon. Because its elitists love bragging about how powerful PC gaming is, but don't have the AAA exclusive games to demonstrate it, and have to jump in on console threads that have nothing to do with PC all for the sake of ego.
You can brag all you want about how much you can mod GTA5 and Skyrim on PC. Me? I'm gonna be playing Red Dead Redemption 2, Spider-Man, Horizon: Zero Dawn, and eventually Death Stranding.
Fuck no. The game may be a single-player game with no micro-transactions, but there's still a lot for them to fuck around with.
Pre-order bonuses, day 1 exclusive content, rush the development, outrageous DLC pricing, multiple editions, after what happened with Battlefront, Battlefield, and Anthem, there's no reason to ever trust EA again. Yes, Anthem was mostly Bioware's fault, but the fact that EA forced Frostbite onto the game, and pulled key Frostbite programmers away...
I get that this is called a DREAM roster, but some of these guest characters look like they were randomly picked out of a hat.
- Short characters like Chucky are unbalanced in games. Look at Yoda in Soul Calibur IV and Oddjob in GoldenEye.
- Despite their long rivalry, Street fighter characters don't belong in Mortal Kombat due to their difference in ratings.
- Deadpool is completely out of place. Yes he's a violent comedic character, but there'...
This guy better not play Battletoads, Cuphead, or Super Meatboy then lol
The only developers who should be allowed to use Frostbite should be DICE. They created that engine, it's obviously the best idea if they were the only ones using it. They may have had stinkers like the Battlefront games and Battlefield 5, but they also made Battlefield 3, 1, and the Bad Company games, which were highly praised, and Battlefield 4, which had a very rocky start, but eventually picked up the pace.
@CorndogBurglar
"Half the roster was brand new characters."
Incorrect. MKX's initial roster was 24 (25 if you count Goro). Only 8 of those characters were brand new. Ferra/Torr, D'Vorah, Kotal Kahn, Cassie Cage, Jacqui Briggs, Kung Jin, Takeda, and Erron Black.
And while it is true that fighting games are required to bring back fan favorites, the only thing Mortal Kombat has is classic characters, and now the new MKX a...
@NapalmSanctuary
Sadly, I have to agree, because when you look at the 3D era of Mortal Kombat (MK4, Deadly Alliance, Deception, Armageddon), many of the new characters from those 4 games were lazy or uninspired. Jarek, Hsu Hao, Kira, Shujinko, Dairou, Kobra, Meat, just to name a few.
And it's a shame too because that era also brought in some new characters who have potential, such as Ashrah, Hotaru, Nitara, Li Mei, Havik, Taven, and Onaga. And even th...
I for once am glad they're trying something new instead of relying on the same ol' characters over an over. Personally, I'm not excited for MK11 at all due to the over reliance on the same classic characters, and it's one of the reasons why I didn't buy MKX until a later date.
I actually really like what she did with the hair.
By the looks of the current roster, it seems like the game is doing the same mistake that Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite did, by having a cast of characters that caters to the MCU and other Marvel films. But will it at least do a good job at it?
