1998 was a great year.
But so was 2008:
GTA4
MGS4
Littlebigplanet
Rock Band 2
Fallout 3
World of Goo
Resistance 2
Gears of War 2
Braid
2007 wasn't too shabby either:
Bioshock
Mass Effect
Super Mario Galaxy
The Orange Box
Halo 3
Call Of Duty Modern Warfare
Crysis
World in Conflict
S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadow of ...
I love the series.
I want to see what Timesplitters will look like running on Crytek's Cryengine 3. All those bright cartoony colours will really shine, and finally hoist the series into the current gen (and onto PC for the first time!)
Hopefully Crytek won't strip it of its funniness or worse, try way too hard to be 'funny' (until it turns into painfully unfunny, à la DNF!)
EDIT:
'When we suggested d...
I have a 3DTV and I personally think 3D gaming is great.
Adding 3D isn't that time consuming or expensive for developers, hell even Virtua Tennis 4 had a 3D option implemented in it.
I hope Arkham City has some sort of 3D option in it, but I'll be getting it either way regardless.
Splinter Cell Conviction received great previews & upon it's release, it scored high reviews from the press. But any Splinter Cell or even a stealth gaming fan will tell you how that turned out.
I remember the media stated that SC:C had a bigger emphasis on action, but the core stealth mechanics were still in place.....sounds familiar doesn't it?
I still hope Absolution is great though, but some of these new details have me worried....
'Bigger focus on staying hidden, rather than staying in disguise (sounds a lot like Splinter Cell: Conviction so far)'
'Use of cover mechanics.'
Nooooo! One of the best things about the original Hitman games was the disguise system. Why does every dev this gen want to warp their perfectly good original concepts into generic cover based third person shooters?
I would prefer if IO kept the gameplay from Blood Money & Contrac...
If the console gets a 2012 announcement, then we probably won't see a release until 2013.
By that point, the back log of current-gen games will have cleared up & most console gamers will be looking to update & purchase their PS4s & Xbox 720s.
Wow NukaCola! Thanks for informing me that my country does not use the Euro monetary system, I would have never have known that if it had not been for your insightful intellect.
The UK is (like the rest of Europe) under the jurisdiction of SCEE. And hence when SCEE confirm a European release date, all the countries in Europe get a simultaneous console release date.
Just like the fact that some states in the US have higher console sales than others, the sales...
Even though I live in the UK (we always get shafted by Sony, in both release dates & pricing, even though the Euro market pretty much kept the PS3 afloat in its first 2 years...)
I still think that it would be more sensible by Sony to release the Vita before Christmas in the US first, and foremost. And then maybe we could get a Euro & Jap release in Spring.
Worse. It's an Arabic studio knocking it off!

Really? Well done Nintendo on creating a console slightly more powerful than 6 year old hardware.
*slow clap*
I was expecting a Mario-esque Heavy Rain...
Maybe something like..........................
Mario is a depressed, down & out plumber who's only source of happiness in his sad life, is his girlfriend (Peach), who one day gets abducted by a serial killer, who's only known as 'the Bowser' (his trademark is that leaves a hollowed out turtle shell at the scene of every crime).
Bowser wants to father a child (Bowser Jnr) with the...
'actually it was the success of BF2 and the huge community still playing 6 years after it's release that brought us to today's BF3 masterpiece.
I still play BF2 to this day (actually I have the Project Reality mod installed), you however are a deluded idiot. I'm a massive fan of the series.
'Plus BC2 PC sold more than the PS3 or 360 version. Google it.'
Ok, please link me to a reputable site or an official statement is...
Timesplitters was epic at PS2's launch.
Well duh...Of course Rockstar were a massive influence!
Saints Row would not exist if it was not for GTA3 & it subsequent sequels!
@ATiElite: Don't be such an idiot.
I have been playing Battlefield games since BF 1942,
however I (personally) grew tired of updating my PC hardware after Bad Company 2 ran sluggishly on my old girl, and instead I have opted for the more convenient console option.
Battlefield 3 will sell in the millions on both the PS3 & Xbox, and only a minuscule proportion of gamers (a few hundred out of potential millions is not exactly representative of th...
Yeah Gary Oldman (BO) & Kiefer Sutherland (WAW) have did a great job on the COD series. As did J.K Simmons & Steve Merchant on Portal 2.
But of course the daddy of great video game performances is Nolan North and the Uncharted cast!
Far Cry 3's devs need to stop making excuses if they have a crummy narrative and hire sub-par voice actors. Great games aren't just about having quality graphics...
Meh, I remember how people laughed at the Wii's name when Nintendo announced it...and we all know how well the Wii has sold, despite it's crummy name!
As long as the specs & the games are good, I couldn't give a shit about the name. Anyway people will just end up calling it the PSV, which practically rolls off the tongue! (except if your an Ajax supporter!)
Of course there will be a Quake 5!
It is the cornerstone of FPS gaming.
In other news, the sky is blue...
Crytek UK are Free Radical (Timesplitters original devs)
