Yeah. Bohemia is not an indie dev at all. They may be small (compared to other studios) but definitely not indies.
It was great, although the last 'chapter' was a bit rushed. If you're a fan of the old-Gothic series, you seriously need to play Risen!
You need to keep in mind guys that the Samaritan tech demo overused tessellation and run at 1080p with AA and 60fps. Now imagine what it'd take to run it with lesser tessellation, at a lower resolution (720p) and at 30fps.
Now I'm pretty sure that a dual 580GTX system would be an overkill for such settings so yes, if next generation consoles come out in 2012 we might see this kind of graphics (in lower resolution and at 30fps. PCs as always will have the advantage of ...
I'm seriously amazed at what a single person can achieve. Also the top-down/side-scrolling camera changes is an interesting idea!
Software mode basically means that the game is not taking advantage of the GPU's at all. It's running on the CPU.
Hardware mode is when a game runs on GPU's via the various API's like DirectX, OpenGL or GLIDE (for all of us that loved 3DFX, couldn't resist not mentioning it :P )
In software mode ;). Try running a current-generation game in software mode and you will be surprised with its single-digits performance :P
Yeap, it will be a free patch and is coming this Fall
Yeah, it's really amazing and I don't mind the simple lighting. This overall concept looks spectacular TBH
There are games that don't support MSAA (even when brutally forcing it) so FXAA is a great work-around. Still, SSAA is the best but is a performance killer.
Hell yeah :D
It's an indie game so don't expect it to be as polished as all those triple-A games. Still, what really counts is the gameplay, right? ;)
UPDATE:
Well seems everything was bogus as the user now admits that all this information was actually fake. That’s why we always tell you to take all rumors with a grain of salt. Either way, we’ll soon find out whether the beta starts on August or not.
He obviously means that we get a Fifa each and every year with minimal changes (especially in the graphical area) and that EA is trying to milk the golden cow ;)
According to the modder, an i7 920 at 4.0 Ghz with 6Gb ddr3 RAM, and two Evga gtx 570 SC in SLI runs it with constant 50fps.
So there is actually a PC that can run the game with this kind of graphics ;)
As EA is trying to take them down, please feel to report if the video is not working
Let's just hope that this upgrade will finally put an end to that bloody brown-ish post-process effect that plagues every damn Unreal 3 game
Edit: @Inside_Out: Mirror's Edge doesn't have the brown-ish filter (in fact, Mirror's Edge looks great :D). This post-process effect is basically a color grading filter that gives a brown-ish look to the game. Gears, Hunted, Batman and a bunch of other Unreal 3 games have it. With a better lighting system we might see its d...
Well it's an engine from a small studio. You can't expect it to be as impressive as CryEngine 3 or Dunia Engine.
Still, with higher res textures and a better TOD it could look comparable to them ;)
According to the modder, all textures for buildings are the default ones. For those screenshots, he used some Cars, Clothing, Weapons, and Sound mods (plus his ENB series config).
He also stated that the game runs with this kind of graphics with constant 50fps on his gaming rig ( i7 920 at 4 Ghz , 6Gb ddr3 RAM, and two Evga gtx 570 SC in SLI )
Just to clarify, this is a custom ENB series config that is right now in a 'work in progress' state. This is not vanilla iCEnhancer 1.25 (so no, you won't get this 'warm' lighting with the default settings of iCEnhancer).
More screenshots were added too ;)
My bad, usually what most of us describe as indie devs are those small ones. You are right though, by definition (and what the word actually describes) they are indeed independent developers, aka indie devs ;)
