Reality check, guys. The Xbox One has already launched in countries where the 360 sold well. Yes FORTY TWO countries sounds like a lot, but these are smaller (MUCH smaller, in most cases) markets where they didn't do well last generation. China is the big wildcard, but I don't see many Chinese buying a $500 console (or even a $400 PS4). What you will probably see is large sales of the last gen consoles and small numbers of the new ones.
Depends...I never played through Mass Effect, only played about 2 or 3 hours of the first one...never played Tomb Raider, and never played Last of Us. So I will eventually get all of these, once the price drops down from $60. I will gladly pay $40 for a "remaster", but asking $60 for an old game seems a bit greedy.
Not really. A "win" for MS is forcing devs to sign "parity clauses" that gimp the game on competing consoles to keep it at the same level as their underpowered console. A "win" for MS is to buy exclusivity. A "win" for MS is to pay for timed exclusives.
We don't really need (or want) that kind of "competition".
MS has NEVER made a profit from Xbox. Not ever. They have been losing money for 9 years now.
The difference being, that if I am interested in a show on Netflix, I already have 5 different devices that can view it...NO ONE is going to buy a console just to watch an MS original!
It's not about money, it's about perception in the market place! They have the money, what they DON'T have right now is the perception that the Xbox One is the best console for playing games! This misguided effort to become a source for exclusive video content only reinforces the perception that MS doesn't know what the hell they are doing with the XB1!
They can "optimize" the software all they want, if the developers don't have access to the software, or have permission to publish on the platform, it means jack squat!

Microsoft has their head where the sun don't shine. They are pushing so hard to make the XB1 a multimedia device, when their customers want to, you know, PLAY GAMES on the console! Every day that goes by, they are continuing to push the Xbox brand further away from the "core" audience...and the "casual" market DOES NOT EXIST for a $500 box! I can get Netflix, Hulu, Vudu and about a DOZEN other video streaming services from a $35 Chromecast, why on EARTH does MS thin...
Sorry, but you are cherry picking facts. MS has ALWAYS lost money on Xbox. They had a 2 BILLION dollar loss in that division, even after extorting 2 billion or so from Android manufacturers!

Because poor sales relative to Sony will put Microsoft in check. Not hard to get 1080p/60fps out of the Xbox One. Just dumb down the graphics to 360 levels and you are there! I would be shocked if Halo 2 DIDN'T run at 1080p/60!
I am guessing a focus on Gears of Bore, Halo 2 remaster (yawn), and Quantum Break. Unless they manage to pull something original out, I see NOTHING compelling about any of Microsofts rehashed, overly sequelized IP. But I bet we will hear a LOT about DX12 and the magic power of "The Cloud" (TM)!
Well, that WAS true for me, but I had enough of Microsoft's crap and cancelled my XBL subscription, put all of my games in a box, and left the console out just in case someone else in the house wanted to use it...I'm out.
I took the money I "saved" and subscribed to PS+...and haven't regretted it. Not only do I now get multiplayer on my PS4, but I have gotten several "AAA" titles to enjoy on my PS3...and when I get my Vita, I will get free gam...
And it gets better still when you get a PS4!

I was going to "hold out" and wait for more titles to come out before jumping in and buying a PS4...but temptation got the best of me this weekend, and I picked one up. I am VERY glad I did!
