This is MS's strategy... They can satisfy the hardcore by giving them two to three games a year. This would mean high demand and a lot of sales. Halo, Gears and Forza will dominate because there is nothing else. For them the third parties will have enough core games. Instead they are trying to attract the casual and families to make Kinect and the 360 as common as the Wii. Imagine opening with Clone of Duty, a multi-platform game? Sony had a lot more that could have been shown. Everybody knows that. The focus was the Vita. Nintendo shouldn't even mention third parties after ignoring them half of this gen with all the shovel ware bull. Both conferences were good. But that's where it stops. Nothing truly remarkable or major surprise announcements.

@ All above... it may not be caring about their customers, and there ARE ways of verifying this through accounting and corporate responsibility practices (Laws that govern how a business behaves towards the public)... In other words no company can make these claims without proving it behind the scenes in their financials.
At least we are getting value for money... that is what we want. And Sony gets the product in as many hands as possible. And not all hardware is sold this ...

Sony didn't even show Twisted Metal or the Last Guardian, yet they still announced Sly 4, Dust and Ruin... Cross PC and PS3 gameplay, and the other with cross Vita and PS3... all good features. They don't need to open with Clone of Duty, as they have enough of their own games. UC3 blew everything away, and R3 looked dam impressive. No one does Invasion like Insomn...
They care about the hardcore? Yeah... lets make every new I.P a Kinect experience and just have Gears, Forza and Halo to satisfy the core... There is nothing new for the core Microsoft! You told us a few years back that you were all about the core... Thanks for Halo, but everything else was shown already except for the new Kinect games.

This title is incorrect. By the end of the year Japan will have the Vita. Fiscal year (March 2012) all regions will have it. Jack Trenton himself said this only hours ago in an interview on GameTrailers
We know that Sony could have filled the conference with more videos for example StarHawk and Sly 4 gameplay for starters, plus only 3 minutes of R3 gamplay? I will look forward to the new announcements now as we know (and I'm sure they know) they have enough games coming this year, along with great blue-ray extras giving us more value.
The co-op gameplay 3D thing was pretty unique was well.
And the NGP? Well we all know how that went.
After watching all the Kinect bull, I'd ask Kinect labs to scan a PS3.

I'd much rather see gaming announcements. I can't see this service coming to Europe. If it does then great, but games benefit everyone.
The translation... We only want to make games than we think will make us the most money without having to do any work. Once we can over price it, make it look the same and don't fix anything and get the masses to buy it year after year...
