I agree to an extent Alpha. The ads are funny, and it makes you remember "PlayStation" but not necessarily the game that was being advertised. Remember the Ratchet and Clank ads? Then think of the first Gears ads and Halo ones... the game is the key focus and not the system. Maybe the KB ads can turn to focus on he games more...?

Japan is only irrelevant to you. The region plays a significant strategic importance for Nintendo and Sony, especially when looking at worldwide sales and market dominance. Local products tend to have longer life cycles and continue to sell long after they have gone in other regions. This is essential to development and Industry success. Especially for companies like Capcom, Square, Sega, etc.

Eh What? I am a major Kojima fan. Met him three times now. However, he does not determine Sony's E3 fate. He wasn't there last year for Sony's conference. Sony has games, even if nothing new is announced and we see the the following with more information and/or gameplay... Twisted Metal, R3, U3, The Last Guardian, Agent, and have details about the NGP... that alone will be a good E3. Those listed games are so far more than what the competition have.

I think there're just moving with the generation really. People want to feel a connection to the hero/heroine. Especially with games that depend on having a strong single player. Legend and Anniversary were good games. I felt underworld showed its age when it came to the ideas, controls and overall gameplay. Although I still enjoyed it and Lara's character.
I'm looking forward to see what they do.
My excitement stopped after what MW2 turned to be. A broken pile of crap, with imbalanced online, a poor story, glitches and a patch fest. Every other game has been the same so far when it comes to these things. They still can't even make the game equal across all the platforms or offer dedicated servers, a new engine, or even just one innovation.

I think the biggest fail introduced in games is regenerating health. This took away some strategy and difficultly. I disagree with you comment to some extent. I believe the ducking and moving suit certain games only, and any cover system needs to be implemented well. I never said it was a better system.
