i agree that gta isnt exclusive. I cant see rockstar doing that considering this generation wont be lopsided in sales like the ps2 last gen. However i disagree with his numbering. gta gta2 and gta advance dont count. They arent console games. that makes gtaiv the 6th console version and the one after the 7th.

They still think its a big enough deal to offer a sku that has BC and one that doesnt. If i didnt already own a ps3, i would gladly buy a 40gb and feel right as rain. I have a launch 60gb with card readers and 4 usbs and ee chips and after about 9 months of owning my ps3 ive never used BC and ive never needed more than 2 usbs and i only used the flash drive to back up my files once, which i could have easily used a usb thumb drive to do. i think backwards compatibility was important at launch when they were trying to get people to buy a console that doesnt have many games at launch. That way they get the new system and can still play last gens games but justfy the early purchase.

basically sony assumes that if you are background downloading you are off doing something else like watching a movie or playing a game or browsing the web. In which case you dont want to use the processor or memory to install a game in the background while you play.
i agree with everything you said except nintendo being a console manufacturer. Mario is worth way more than their consoles. Nintendo doesnt even have to make a console. They could make mario games and make a fortune. Their consoles are usually underpowered and cheap compared to the competiton. They arent high-tech or cutting edge. If nintendo didnt have mario they wouldnt exist. console or no console.
