so all those discs sitting in all those stores across the entire world are just going to go away for downloads? hardly. there is not a single country ready for an all download system. There is not a single country where 100% of the people have internet or a decent speed that would make downloads worth while. Not to mention drm is still unsettled across the world. Plus people dont want an all download system.
Theres some people who just want to own the disc. There will always be a hard...
i cant be mad, because this wasnt what i had in mind when i thought about the purpose of home. i see it more as a social network to find people who play the same games as you and to meet up with all your friends to have play sessions. i could see streaming music and video being somewhat relevant. i still dont see the point in "hey lets all watch the same movie together in different locations". I mean i want to watch it, not talk about it while watching it.
Disc based gaming will always be around.
It doesnt seem likely that even ms is postioning this gen for all digital downloads. They still sell a sku that doesnt come with a hard drive. And if you want to upgrade you have to use their proprietary drive. Which is what 120 or 160 gig?
i guess instead of changing game discs we will start changing hard drives.
1) the better graphics come in the form of not having to use compression because of the large storage capacity. We arent to that point in game development yet, but we will be. We got too big for cd, we will get to big for dvd.
2)ps3 doesnt require installs. There are games that do nothing more than cache some data to the hard drive and some games do an outright install. Its common knowledge that installing data to a harddrive will make it load faster. This goes for 360 and ps3. Hence wh...
its up to the designer of the app if its free or not. sony cant charge for an app they didn't make without the maker wanting to charge a fee and get a cut of the action. The psp wasnt hacked for free games, it was for the ability to run homebrew. If sony doesnt change their stategy to appeal to the homebrew crowd and we dont change our behavior of pirating games, there wont be any games to pirate.
The app store idea comes from the iphone app store, which is the main appeal of the iphon...
im all for stopping the piracy if it will encourage devs to support the psp more. If sony was smart they would start an app store for the psp. let people submit apps to be certified. Then start releasing more games for download on the psn and put out way more ps1 games for download too. boom piracy solved.
play folklore.
i forgot that every wii game implements motion controls perfectly.
Stop beating a dead horse. Lair was just a bad game. Even great motion controls wouldnt have saved it from being average.
Warhawk and motorstorm work just fine with motion controls. And folklore has the best use of sixaxis that ive seen yet. Theres also uses for it like being on fire and shaking it to put out the flames. Or having an enemy jump on you and shaking the controller to get them off. Theres even a good...
I have seen six axis incorporated in some very interesting ways. However not every game is required to use it. Its far from useless.
I dont understand why devs arent jumping on the trophys train. I guarantee people will be more likely to try your game just for the trophys. Except me. Naruto is a terrible anime like dbz. Die already.
homebrew sells the hardware, but stops the game development. If the system was open to homebrew, but not piracy that would be ideal.
the solution is an apps store like the iphone. That would probably be even better than cfw because sony could release tools to help make apps. the designer could option to sell his app and make a cut or release it for free to all.
flash 9 support is killing me on psp and ps3.
id also like some more features on the mp3 player. Like the ability to make playlists from multiple folders and be able to play songs at random from multiple folders.
streaming video from services like tversity would be nice too.
sounds like a good time to buy sony stock. buy low, sell high. The world economy will bounce back, people will have more capital to spend and shares will rise. Plus we are on the verge of the digital tv move in america. which will spark the HD tv buying. which will spark the bluray buying. And since the ps3 has now become profitable, or will be by years end, that will raise shares. Im sure Home will raise shares. And sony's first party games always do well. Theres some big ones on the way.
most analyst and sony were predicting the ps3 to be profitable sometime between august and the end of the year. So for all we know they are now making money on every console sold.

microsoft maybe. sony no way. Games take too long to make to be changing platforms and specs that soon. Microsoft has a pc style development so its games may be easier to upgrade, but sony went for a hardware design made to last 10 years. You may not even see the full potential of those two consoles till 2012.
wow...im glad it wasnt just me who sold theirs back after playing it for about a week. had it been the first gta it would have been killer. but ive already experienced more depth in gameplay on the ps2 or psp from this series. i wont be buying gta5, nor do i care about dlc for gta4. they are going to have to show me something special to get me excited about this series anymore.
1)you totally underestimate the age group the ds is designed for.
2)you would likely have to work out a contract for every area of the world to sell the ds phone.
3)hitching your pony to a single service provider in a region will severely limit your potential sales.
4)cell providers in the US don't all use gsm, so an open device will still leave out potential customers.
5)what kind of person is into pokemon and has a need for gps.
6)nintendo is into keeping t...
there wont be a second analog. and if they finally put another analog, it will be on the psp2. they cant piss off the tens of millions of psp owners by putting out a new model that totall changes the way games are played. my theory is they are doing the ten year plan for the psp and they are waiting on cell technology to be microsized. i think they are also trying to figure out how to make the psp virtually unhackable before moving to a psp2.
"What makes it the best?"
the series has a high quality feel to the gameplay. you have to play the game to understand. it might look like graw, but they dont play the same. like how two sports cars drive the same until you get behind the wheel.
the game is all about team work and strategy. it takes generic tactical shooter concepts to another level. its the intangibles that make it so great. an overwhelmingly positive experience.
"Shame you have never experienced PC online gaming or you would know that a online tactical shooter was and has been done over and over before the ps2 was ever thought of"
Counterstrike? thats about all i can think of that is famous for its tactical shooterness on the pc. This doesnt have the fps feel that counterstrike has, you are much more aware of your surroundings.
logic?...on this website?...never.
