I am not a COD / BF guy. But from what I am gathering from the chatter, it seems that BF4 kills in graphics, but gameplay and controls still goes to COD.
Is that correct?
I doubt a third-party developer knows the launch date. I don't even think Sony knows!
Either way we are dying here... launch launch launch!
Which Call of Duty game are they showing off? MW2?
It went to the Oculus Rift.
Advantage of using "off-the-shelf" pc parts (I exaggerate) is the ability to take advantage of all the energy saving technology AMD has build to satisfy its labtop customers.
I am hoping because of this, that in 5 years Sony will release a $350 portable PS4 as the next PSP.
This way, they can extend the life of their software.
Change the word "Microsoft" to "Nintendo" and I will agree.
This probably won't mean much to us gamers, but Kinect 2.0 could bring in a revolution in robotics. It might be worth it just for that!
You should try using metro on a Windows 2012 server. I can't believe it got past usability testing!
Too many platforms to support!
I think the best strategy going forward is for Sony to release a portable PS4 when the power-draw is reduced sufficiently (i.e. 14nm silicon in < 6 years)
This way, Sony can extend the value of its library for another generation, encourage legacy software, etc.
This was never possible before but with the PS4's energy efficient chips, they could probably make it happen at a $350 price point in less than 6 ...
LaChance is not far off! Sony had no choice with the Blu-ray, but the Cell was a huge investment that went nowhere (it happens).
This time around, the business plan is very solid. Using standard parts with energy efficient chips, I expect a $200 console within 4 years, and a portable PS4 within 6 years.
Nintendo, we love your software but couldn't care less about what system we play it on.
Make us a promise, if the Wii U continues to languish, release your software on the other systems. You can even give a 12-24 month delay if you wish.
On current gen, the crown jewel (Call of Duty) is selling twice as well on the 360 as it is on the PS3.
On the next gen, it's reversed.
In every generation one company delivers a console and the other delivers a "complete media experience". The console always wins.
That's disappointing.
It should be mentioned that EA has announced that there has been no increase in development cost for this generation.
This is due to EA's wise decision to put every studio on just two engines. No more making custom tech that is only used once and no more having to re-train employees for each new game.
Agreed, Infamous was a difficult game to market.
Anyone who loves great gameplay mechanics and "fun factor" must try out Infamous, the most criminally underrated game of this generation.
Suckerpunch, if your reading this, please tone-down the use of melay combat in Second Son! It's introduction in Infamous 2 was the only negative aspect of its beautifully built sequel.
I wonder how much it would cost to create a PS4 "wii-pad"?
Where everything stripped out except what is needed for
bathroom-play... er, I mean "remote-play".
If it is less than $120, that's a buy for me. (although Sony would be good to wait as it would cannibalize Vita sales)
Here here! Something about it was just so damn 'fun'!
One of my favorite games of all time with some of the best game mechanics out there (except the melay combat, I hope Second Son tones that down).
I may have been one of those assholes!
I am hoping the PS4's small size (and thus, small power/cooling requirements) will be a good sign that the next Sony portable system will be an exact copy of the PS4 rather than another new system that requires dedicated software support.
I know it sounds like a long-shot, but silicon efficiency doubles every 18 months and battery price/performance increases by 15% every year.
