@WilliamRLBaker: All movies from Sony Pictures suck? I would argue that Casino Royale was a decent experience, but again... that's me.
Crysis was made for future PC's, and to show off CryEngine 2. Of course, there'll always be those liars who claim that their PC "run Crysis in 2500x1600 with 16 x AA, and everything on very high with 120 fps", but they can't fool anyone.
Perhaps in 1-2 years, some rigs will do that, but for now we'll have to turn the graphics way down in order to have a somewhat steady framerate... and that's not why we bought Crysis in the first place.
I'm sincerily hoping that AMD and ATI will make a comeback, a monopoly consisting of Intel, nVidia and Microsoft won't work in anyone's favor. Remember, we're capitalists not commies; competition is the way to go.
I think that the argument of gaming creating isolated lifestyles and loneliness is only half the picture. Usually, it's people that are lonely to begin with that have obsessive gaming-habits.
Again, as I said, it's half the picture. As of right now, I don't get out much since I'm at 1st semester at the university and it's cold outside. But a lot of people are well within their 30's and can't find anything better to do than game all day; and gaming obsessively may be a good way ...
Wise words, Sire! Wise words!
@Boink
In the backwards country of Denmark where I come from, I have a 10 Mbit connection and yes, while HD movies only take up 4-6 gigs of space, the only thing that makes those "HD" is the resolution. But resolution alone doesn't mean anything, bandwith does. If you want to download 15-20 gigs for a movie with the bandwith of, say, a Blu Ray movie, then be my guest. However, I'd just throw in a Blu Ray and sit comfortably in my couch. I agree that when 20-50-100 Mbi...
Hehe Zhuk, you must have seen too much Dennis the Menace, you just NEED to pick a fight everytime something comes up. And then you try to pick a fight with Wii owners. Good luck...
The reason there is not auto-installer is because an update replaces the entire OS. That's why it takes forever to download, however, it also makes it almost impossible to chip or hack the OS of the PS3, since your hack or chip will only work on the PS3 for a couple of months, until Sony releases a new version. I personally like it that way...
@Rubarb - I would argue, in response to your claim about lightning, that Uncharted is superior in those terms. Gears of War did not have shadowmaps, it used an older version of shadowing found, for example, in Oblivion. I'm not claiming that Gears of War isn't a milestone in graphical acheivements, it's just that a year has passed now and there is a much deeper understanding of the PS3 and the 360 hardware. We have to stop comparing the ol' boys of glory to the new young guns; it simply isn't...
I don't get this, when I think best PS3 game of the month, I think exclusivity. 2nd; why choose the PS3 version of COD4. Make no mistake, COD4 was great, the PS3 version just didn't quite make it to the point of being the GOTM. Countless bugs and way too many issues IMHO. Uncharted would win in every aspect it seems, according to the readers, but since it has yet to be released in Europe, I cannot argue for or against that.
This rediculous situation is getting out of hand...
I personally could care less if there could be a peaceful co-existence between the two; I just want the god damn exclusivity deals to end! I want to watch Bourne AND McClane in HD without having to invest in two different players.
Relax, even though I somewhat agree with you about the public being uninformed (about anything) Crysis does require some graphical muscle. It can look amazing even at medium settings, but the semi-trolls that call everybody noobs because their PC "runs everything on very high in 2500x1600 with 16x AA" does so because their PC's are those 5000$ rigs.
However, the reason why I personally think console gaming has the edge, it because the software is being tweaked to work...
I agree that it runs better than mentioned in the reviews. I run almost everything on very high, apart from shaders being on just high... and I'm playing on a laptop. Although I run at lowest resolution, I agree that it's very pretty. (Say what you want about low resolution, effects come first, resolution second in my book).
However, there are some solid shooters on the consoles and I don't think they get completely run over by Crysis. In fact, I think some of them look better,...
Great idea there! I haven't got any experience making websites, but you have my support nonetheless.
This is what I have said over and over... Crysis wil be surpassed by consoles when the devs learns the hardware. It's not as if they peak in 2 years. But of course, in the future a new PC title will arrive that will set the bar in terms of graphics... have none of you guys long term memory?
Seems like they didn't have a greater interest in it, but then again; it's Variety. It had this whole "meh" attitude towards it to begin with, so I really doubt that the reviewer was serious about his job at that point.
By the way, the cutscenes aren't animated, they're real-time as far as I know... the framerate isn't constant; and a processor seldom has problems displaying a video.
That's one the funniest and saddest comments ever; funny because it's true, and sad because... well it' true. :D
Bubbles coming your way!
This isn't an interview, it's a monologue. We could basically leave Geoff out of the video, and it would be the same. I actually think the Uwe Boll interview was quite interesting; difficult questions and I'm afraid to say that Uwe made some good arguments... and some bad ones.
This time, however, all Geoff does is staring at her, and putting words in her mouth about how awesome she is, and what a fantastic experience Assassin's Creed is. Part 2 please!
Sometimes I wish people like you got body-slammed from the age of 7, that would save us the trouble of beating the living crap out of you later...
