No one has to defend it. It's a choice they made and that's that.

I'm far more concerned about The Protecting Children from Abusive Games Act.

Who would you rather have making decisions, Sony or the federal government?

2445d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

Who do you want to make those decisions, Sony or some other entity?

2445d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

Yup, Epic sure did buy the exclusive.

Poor baby can't play Metro with the Valve launcher...waaaa...waaaa.

I guess you don't want developers to have the freedom to make business deals that companies have been making for centuries.

@Elwenil

How much does Valve Corporation pay you to troll N4G? Do you get paid a sallary, or do they pay you per comment?

2445d ago 2 agree3 disagreeView comment

It isn't really censorship though. It's a private company making a decision that they feel best serves them. It's freedom.

That's not true. There are other reasons.

1) money upfront is equavalent to guaranteed sales
2) unpredictability of sales at Steam
3) the 12% cut matters a lot, even though you say it doesn't
4) more work to release on Steam (achievements, workshop, etc.)
5) Steam's toxic userbase (bad reviews for stupid reasons, trolls who just like trolling, etc.)
6) I can add more if you like...

What it's doi...

I think developers should be left alone to decide what's best for themselves. There is no one-size-fits-all business model.

If you don't like the Epic Store there are other vendors to choose from, like Steam, GOG, Itch, etc.

If a troll has a two-year old account he's not a troll, but if a legitimate person just created an account to start commenting here he's a shill?

Attack the argument, not the person. What is this, reddit?

@Hungryalpaca GameBoyColor

Saying they would have sold more on Steam doesn't mean it's the smarter move. Don't forget, the game will be available on Steam in the near future (I think it's a 6 month Epic exclusive but I'm not sure).

If I were releasing a game, I would much rather get money upfront than risk being disappointed by Steam's unpredictable sales. Many times bad sales will break a studio.

"Okay, let me copy and paste the second sentence from my original comment, just so it sinks in a bit: "

What's the point of talking sideways? Your original comment is simplistic, and saying if people disagree with it they're stupid shows your level of maturity.

Then why didn't they?

2446d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

Maybe they have an NDA with Epic.

2446d ago 2 agree0 disagreeView comment

But you wouldn't know because you have no access to any sales information.

PS - you showed your bias with that open borders comment.
