Why cant ps4 stand on its own legs (which I think it is more than capable)? Last gen it was ps3+pc. Now this combo.
Obviously something is flawed in some peoples minds, if you have to group a totally separate products in together to make it seem more appealing.
No one asked what you would choose and I doubt anyone cares. Both systems have their pros and cons.
Fyi PSP and DS are handhelds, not consoles.
To compare apples to apples, you need to compare psn and live accounts to steam accounts. Pretty irrelevant to compare hardware sales to a software base.
I have no doubt tablet users will soon outnumber console gamers (if they don't already). But no one from that group is gunna pay more than $5-10 for a game or play for more than 15 min. So it definitely has its limitations there.

I wouldn't be so sure of that. The reason being is that WiiU market sells some of the various popular Gameboy games as digital downloads.
Resident Evil kind of went the same way. It went away from it's more hard core, scary roots in an attempt to appeal to the masses.

Just because a newer and slightly faster gpu (maybe not even relevantly faster for another year or more) does not make everything else outdated.
I think that term gets misused and abused in the pc world all to often.
680 will be very future proof this whole generation for 1080p gaming. I mean it's something like 3-4 times more powerful than next gen consoles.
Now for 4k gaming, you would need more.
I think the east vs west angle is about the least interesting angle I could ever think of. I'm much more concerned with price, graphics, games, online, or what friends own.

Sorry but I gotta call you out here. The console is pretty underpowered and has a 32gb hd which cannot be upgraded.
However the software is really the engine driving sales. It's super fun playing those 1st party games with the kids. Also since free online gaming is going away in the ps4 and xbox one, that's also another nice feature.
Ive seen a few rumor mill articles pop up recently that xbox one might play with windows 8 pc users. But I haven't seen anything about the ps4 playing with pc users, so that's probably pretty unlikely at least in the near future.

So you've never heard of Killer Instinct then? Im not even getting an xbox one and Ive already seen dozens of articles about that free game.
It's a very solid game, especially for the free price tag.
For online gaming, the max you'd ever use would be around 5-10mbps. So hopefully you doubled your 25mbps not because of xbox one.
